VERMILLION COUNTY SPEEDWAY
DANVILLE, ILLINOIS
JUNE 13, 2009

Steve Keenen is 50 years old and lives in Philo, Illinois...he says there is a sign there that says Philo is the center of the universe....
He has two children: Lucas and Nicole...

Steve runs the #63 modified with a Pierce Chassi and a G & G Machine engine out of Rantoul, Illinois..
His number stands for his sons birthday : June 3....

He says he has no hometrack but his favorite to run are Vermillion County Speedway and Farmer City...

He started his racing career ten years ago in a street stock... This is his first year in the modified...

When asked what had inspired him to start racing he told me that he went to the races with his dad since he was two years old... decided he wanted to be more than a racefan...

The driver he most admires is DALE EARNHARDT, SR..
Steve told me that he was at the race that Dale was killed at...

The driver he feels is his toughest competitor.....he answered with "all of em"...

To be a good driver Steve says you have to have patience ...and..... it takes a lot of hard work during the week.....

His goal in racing is to make it back in one piece and to have fun while doing it....

A racing highlight for him..... He told me that every night he goes out on the track is a highlight for him...

He likes to race the low groove on a tacky track...

His Crew Chief is Kevin Beilert..

He wanted to give a special thanks to Tom Harpnenan....

Steve keep that light hearted attitude you have... It is very refreshing... You can see that you enjoy what you do and appreciate the fact that you get to do it...
Was really nice to meet you... hope to see you race again this season..
