Chris Simon is 45 years old and lives in Covington, Ohio.. He is the father of three: Nick who is 23, Landon who is 19 and Danniele who is 17...
Chris is simi retired... He raced sprints for 12 years (#24) and UMP modified for 4 and 1/2 years...
He claims Eldora as his hometrack as well as his favorite track to run...
Chris told me he started racing at age 26 in the sprint division..
Said he got inspired to start racing because of his dad Jim who also raced..
The driver he most admires ' JACK HEWITT"
When asked who his toughest competitor was he said it was himself...
To be a good driver Chris said you have to have self control and you need self confidence...
His goal in racing is to get all four of his family members in a race at the same time..
HIs dad Jim, his son Landon, his brother Steve and his nephew Kyle...
Anything in racing he felt needed changed..... like so many..... the cost and the purse....
A racing highlight for Chris he said was anytime he could strap in a car...
And his first year of racing at age 26 he was rookie of the year at Lawrenceburg, Indiana
I asked which he preferred... the high groove or the low groove.... He told me it depended on the track..
He likes to race a dry slick track... He said you need more patience as a driver when racing dry slick..
His Crew Chief is his dad Jim.....
Chris...it was really nice talking with you... Glad I got to meet you..
Hopefully you will reach that goal of all four of you in a car at same time...That would be something to see....
