DANVILLE, ILLINOIS
JUNE 13, 2009
Wow is all I can say.... I can't believe they got that race in.... we left Robinson at around two oclock and headed for Danville.... right around Georgetown we hit a downpour...very hard rain.... I called Joe Jeffries and he said the sun was shining and radar looked good..... Terre Haute was getting rain and had canceled their race...
Well...he was right... it was not raining at the track... I went pitside and went to talk with Heather Thomas and Ryan, builder of the Diamond Chassi......as Heather says "nothing shines like a diamond"....

Heather took my camera and gave it to her mom and told her to take a picture of her and I....she said CJ you never have pictures of you ..............and lol...now you can see why...

As we were talking Heather said, uh either I just spit on myself or..................well she didn't spit on herself..... it started with light rain and then got steady.... I headed to the pitgate... I figured we would be heading home..... as I was walking in the rain and getting soaked someone yelled "you know what they say about people not coming in out of the rain......you wouldn't know anything about that would you Lloyd Dunlap ??
As I was walking to the pitgate I saw Chad Kinder sitting on road outside of gate ...cars kept pulling in ...Ed Roley pulled in.... my hubby brought the car up by the gate and we sit there to see what was going to happen.........IT QUIT RAINING !!!!
The rigs started pulling in..... it was muddy!!! I saw Jason Lakey slipping and sliding and trying to pull into a grassy spot but couldnt make it...

I saw Jeff Leka sliding around too but he made it safely to a spot.... Kinder pulled straight in and parked by the tree by the pit bleachers....
I had wanted to get some interviews of the winged sprint drivers but it was so slippery I was afraid to walk around much in the pit.... I was very wet and I didn't want to had mud to my butt....
I did however catch Bob Pierce for an interview and trust me... I certainly will not do him justice....Click to view attachment
I interviewed the #63 of Steve Keenen

Steve Keenen told me he was fifty years old...that was hard to believe...he is a very young 50...was nice to meet him..
And Levi Kissinger... I am so glad I found him.... he told me he was coming and I wanted to make sure I found him.... I met both his mom and dad.........
I had been told Pam and Jeff Leka was there and I walked the whole pit area...which is huge...and never found them.... they were parked up by the gate.... I had a nice time talking with Pam and crew...........and thankyou very much Pam for the Leka Shirt... I love it !!!! I never did get to see Jeff....Jeff was running his son Jeffrey's #20 tonight...
As I was heading back to the grandstands the track still looked pretty shaky,,,they called for a drivers meeting....that sounded good....
I saw three cars pull out: Denny Schwartz #21s, Scott Weber #4j and Ed Roley #11....
I think it was around nine oclock before the hot laps started...then qualifying..
now the racing starts...........
I will ad the results to race below
