Nick Bilbee is 19 years old and lives in Indianapolis, Indiana...
He runs the #17 sprint with a DRC chassi and a Kistler Engine...
The reason behind his #17...... he said his aunt and uncle owned a car which with that number so he started using it..
Nick claims no track for his hometrack but his favorite to run is Vermillion County Speedway...
He told me that he started his racing career at age 15 in a mini sprint and ran them for two years... He started running sprints in 2007...
He told me what had inspired him to start racing was being around it all his life...he said his aunt and uncle had always been involved in racing and that his dad had been the wrench man...
The driver he most admires is JACK HEWITT...
The driver he says has been his toughest competitor....JON STANBROUGH....
To be a good driver Nick says you need to stay focused all the time...and you have to believe in yourself...
His goal in racing is to one day make it into nascar or to get a full sprint ride...
I asked him if there was anything in racing he felt needed changing... He said nothing major....said everything right now do to the economy was making it tough...
A racing highlight for Nick was when he got his first win in a sprint at Vermillion County Speedway three weeks ago..... and beating Jon Stanbrough in the process....
Nick likes to race the high groove on a dry slick track...
His Crew Chief is his father Dallas..
Team members include him, his dad, his mother and brothers when they come to help..
He wanted to give a special thanks to his dad Dallas, and to Keith Holsapple for helping him get started....
