Randy runs the #62 crate late model with a Pierce Chassi and a 604 engine
His modified is also a Pierce chassi and a 398 engine....
I asked if there was a reason for the #62.... He said he raced for 8 years in motorcross and that was the number he used....Has had the same number for 18 years.....
He claims Vermillion County as his hometrack and also his favorite track to run...
He started his racing career at age 15 in motorcross and went into the sportsman division from 1997 to 2007
Randy went into a modified in 2007 and this is his first year for the crate late model......
I asked what had inspired him to start racing... He told me the "excitement"...
The driver he most admires is JEFF GORDON...
His toughest competitors has been BOBBY PIERCE and TIM RIVERS....
I asked what he thought it took to be a good driver.... he told me "NO FEAR"...
His goal in racing is to win the Track Championship in Crate Late Models...
When asked what he would change in racing he answered with "MORE SPEED"....
Now why didn't that surprise me.... lol.....
A Racing Highlight that stands out for him was winning the first Larry Dines Memorial Event for $1500 in the Sportsman Division...
Randy loves the high groove....but.... low seems to be where to win races....
He likes to race a tacky track.......****hammer down*****
His Crew Chief is Jeff Grubb
Team Members are Tyson Pankow; and his two kids Brayton and Blaise..
He wanted to give a special thanks to Stan Johnson, his car owner... He said without him it would not be possible for him to do this..
