MAY 23,2009
Jimmy Hayden is 37 years old and lives in Coatsville, Indiana with his wife Karen.. They have two children Derek and Heather (Thomas)..
Jimmy runs the #15j modified with a Bob Pierce Chassi and a Snyder Enterprise racing engine...
The reason behind Jimmy's number..... He told me that he started racing in demolition derby's...he said the top 50 numbers had already been taken so he went with #51...he said he decided to switch the numbers around to 15 and added a 'j" hoping it would change his bad luck....
Jimmy claims Vermillion County as his hometrack.... His favorite track to run is Eldora.......
I asked Jimmy what had inspired him to start racing.....Jimmy comes from a long line of racing history... His grandfather Otis Hayden...his father Dick Hayden and his two uncles Rod and George Hayden................He said he started watching racing at age five....
To be a good driver Jimmy feels you need to have a cool level head .......and good equipment...
The driver he most admires is AJ FOYT..
When asked who he deemed his toughest competitor he told me they were all tough but if he had to name one it would be JEFF LEKA...
When I asked Jimmy if he had a goal he said it was just to have fun...but added that he would feel really blessed if he could win a track championship or win a David Richardson Memorial race...
Anything in racing he feels needs changed...... he said he would like to see the cost of racing level out....
A racing highlight for Jimmy was winning his first feature race at Lincoln Park Speedway in 2004....Said most of the race was three wide racing with him, Paul Bumgardner and Ray Humphrey....
When asked if he preferred the high groove or the low groove.... he said he liked whaterver got him to the front the quickest...
He does like racing a dry slick track...
His Team Members consist of him and his wife Karen.... and what a team they make...
He wanted to give a special thanks to his wife for allowing him to race and to his sponsors and to his fans...
What a treat to meet the two of you.. I really enjoyed the short time I had to talk with you.. I hope to run into the two of you again this season... goodluck in season 2009...
