VERMILLION COUNTY SPEEDWAY
DANVILLE, ILLINOIS
MAY 2, 2009

Korey Weyant is 24 years old and lives in Springfield, Illinois... He is getting married December 19th to his fiance Lynsey.... He has a daughter Gabbie and is expecting another child in July...

He runs the #99 sprint with an Eagle Chassi and a 360 Automotive Machines Engine......
I asked Korey if there was a reason behind his #99.... he told me it was the number his family had used for like....."forever"...

Korey considers Jacksonville his hometrack..... His favorite track to run is Vermillion County Speedway..

He has been racing since age nine when he started racing quarter midgets..
He started racing sprints five years ago...

He told me that he was inspired to start racing by his dad Scott.... he is the fourth generation to race...

The driver he most admires: TONY STEWART

The driver he deems his toughest competitor : HUD CONE

To be a good driver Korey says..."you got to have the feeling".... "got to know how to feel the car.... you have to be able to drive the car..not let it drive you..."

His goal in racing is to try and win another championship....

A Racing Highlight that stands out for him was last weekend winning at Vermillion County with a 360 engine with 39 sprints in attendance....
And winning the track championship at Jacksonville last year...

Korey likes to run the high groove on a dry slick track....

His Crew Chief is his dad Scott
Team Members are Amanda; Sam; Amber; his mom Jo; Lynsey and his daughter Gabbi

He wanted to give a special thanks to his mom Jo and dad Scott and to his grandpa Stoge and to his grandma Wanda....

Thankyou so much Korey for the interview ... Was really nice meeting you....
After having a not so nice experience at Clay County with a couple of the sprint drivers I was not sure what to expect......BUT.... people like you and your family and also the other drivers I met at Vermillion County it put the bad experience to rest...

Korey has quite a witty crew... and his Uncle Bob....
When I told Korey I wanted to take a picture of him Uncle Bob told him to turn around..that he would look better............. lol.....
that just gives you an insight at how much fun these guys have and the spirit in the pit area.... was a pleasure to meet all of you and hope to run into all of you again..
Goodluck with 2009 Korey and hope you get that track championship this year..
