MAY 3RD, 2009
Roger Cary is 56 years old and lives in Catlin, Illinois.. He has two children.. a son Ryan, the modified driver #144 and a daughter Jennie...
Roger runs the #44 modified with a Pierce Chassi and a Mullins Engine....and the #44 late model with a Pierce Chassi and a Travis Kern Engine...
The reason behind the #44 on Roger's car.... That is the number his dad Jack used when he raced...
He considers his hometrack Vermillion County Speedway as well as his favorite place to run....
Roger told me that he started racing at age 17 in "super sixes".....they were factory built..like a late model...
He started racing a modified in 1985...
When asked what had inspired him to start racing.....he said "family"...
The driver he most admires: A J FOYT
To be a good driver Roger says he feels you have to have a good car and it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of dedication...
I asked him if he had a goal in racing...... He told me that he already has won a lot of track championships.... now he says he would like to see his son Ryan win one....
I asked Roger who his toughest competitor has been..... He told me that through the years he has seen a lot of them.... to hard to pick ....
I asked for a racing highlight that stood out for him.... He told me his first track championship was special... said he won three track championships in one year...and also when he won 31 features in one year.....
Roger likes to race the high groove on a dry slick track...
Crew Members are Bob Newton; Joe Pichon; and his son Ryan...
He wanted to give a special thanks to all of his sponsors: Abbott Trucking; Corner Lounge; Wright Motor Co. and Rivers Racing....
Roger... thankyou for the interview ... glad I finally caught up with you.... goodluck with season 2009...
