KLMS MARCH MADNESS
MARCH 6 AND 7, 2009

Kevin Claycomb is 48 years old and lives in Vincennes, Indiana with wife Michelle..
He has three children: Cameron, Ethan and Nicholas... and a daughter inlaw Kendra ..Kevin told me that he and his wife are about to become grandparents for the first time in the near future.....Congratulations grandpa and grandma to be !!!!

Kevin runs the #16c late model with a masterbilt chassi and a J Dickens engine...
The car # belongs to the car owner...

Kevin says that he runs all over but mainly Haubstadt, and Brownstown, In..
His favorite tracks include Eldora, Haubstadt and Brownstown....

He told me that he started his racing career at age 21 in the sportsman division and only did that for two years before moving into the late model division at age 23..

I asked what had inspired him to start racing and he said it was because he had been around it all his life.... He said that his Uncle Dan raced and his father was mechanic for him ......

When I asked Kevin what driver that he most admired he answered with..."Well... I wouldn't call it admire... I don't think I admire anyone.. BUT ADDED I have a lot of respect for drivers like Bloomer and Billy Moyer... He said he respects anyone who is on top of their game...as it all together...

I asked him what driver had been his toughest competition through the years... He told me DOUG McCAMMON...

When I asked Kevin what he thought it took to be a good driver he told me you have to have a lot of awareness.. You have to know what your car needs..be on top of the situation at all times.... try to get all you can out of it....

I asked him if he had any goals left or if he had filled them all.... He said he had reached them all .... but like any driver you want to win every race you enter....

He had too many highlights to list but the main one for him was winning the UMP Nationals...

Kevin doesn't matter whether he races the high or the low groove... He will go wherever it is working the best.... He does like to race on a tacky track..

He told me he is his own Crew Chief...

Thankyou so much Kevin for the interview... I have tried to run on to you a few times... Just didnt work out....
Kevin took a three year retirement..... I am sure glad he is back.... always a lot of fun to watch.....
Goodluck this season..
