Blaine Aber is 66 years old and lives in Wooster, Ohio with his wife Karen... He has two sons Matt and Jeremy...
Blaine has ran a late model for 43 years... It is the #81..has ran both CJ Rayburn and BRC...
He has raced street stock, late model and modified.....
The reason for his car number....when he was a kid and went to the races with his dad the driver he really liked was "EDDIE MOKINTINE" ..so when he got a race car he went with his number...
Also ...going to the races as a kid with his dad is what inspired him to start racing.........
His hometrack is in Wayne Co. Speedway, Millersburg, Ohio.. It is also his favorite track to run...
The drivers that he most admire: EDDIE MOKITINE AND DONNIE MORAN....
His toughest competitor he feels has been JAMES GENTRY....
To be a good driver Blaine says you have to be very dedicated....you have to work every night and work hard...... You also have to have patience...can't get excited....
I asked him if he had a goal in racing and he told me that he had pretty much accomplished everything he wanted to do already....
When asked if there was anything in racing he felt needed changed he told me almost the same as his son had said.... They need to raise the purse and it needs to be better pay farther back so not only one person goes home with money...
I asked Blaine if he had a racing highlight that stood out for him.... With 43 years of racing you knew he had some.... ... He said one that really stood out for him was winning a race in 1987 over Donnie Moran by half a track length at Wayne Co. Speedway...
He has had Championships at 4 different race tracks and is in the HALL OF FAME at Wayne Co (since 2005)......... and would like to some day make the big one...
Blaine likes both the high groove and the low groove.... says he will race wherever it is working...
And he does not care whether he is on a dry slick track or a tacky track... He races both....
He is his own Crew Chief..
Crew Members : Rick Hoff who has been with him for 23 years; Bubb, Rick's son and his son Matt...
He also wanted to give a big thanks out to his wife Karen... He said that through all the years of his racing his wife has always kept his car washed for him... Said she has been a great asset through the years for him...
Blaine.... man I know there were a lot more stories you could have shared with us... Lots of knowledge you have earned through the years..
Was really nice to talk with you... Hope to run into you again sometime..
