MY INTERVIEW WITH CHAD FROM EAST BAY, FLORIDA

Re: CHAD KINDER..interview from Eastbay Raceway, Jan. 24, 04
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHAD KINDER…………
Being that my group follows Chad Kinder from race track to race track it was easy for me to get an interview with him…
When I asked him to give me an interview for Luvracin he said "Heck, you could probably fill it out better then me."
Chad started racing in 1996 in street stock. His main track was Redhill in Sumner, Il. at that time..He was 25 yrs old…
I asked him what inspired him to start racing and he told me that it was his brother Will Snyder..He told me that Will raced a street stock and he had made the remark to him that it didn't look too hard to do…..Well….Will took no time in responding "Well, if you think its so easy then why don't you go get a car and find out….. "….Well, that is just what he did….. He told me it took him no time to find out that it wasn't as easy as he had thought……He told me he wrecked every weekend for at least six months and maybe longer…..
I asked what his long term goal was and he said to win the U.M.P. Points one time…He has taken 2nd, 4th and 3rd in the last three years…
I asked him what he thought it took to be a good driver and he replied with , "it takes discipline, dedication and preparation.."
Asked who his toughest competition was and he answered , "Any of the drivers from the midwest."
I asked him what his greatest accomplishment was and he told me taking 2nd in the U.M.P. points….but….I had taken this interview before he won the Winternationals…so I am guessing that this has to be right up there …..
I asked if there was anything he would change and he like most I interviewed said that he wished he had started earlier…..
His Pit Crew Chief is his brother Will Snyder and he has won honors at U.M.P. two years for being "Mechanic Of The Year".
His Pit Crew has to be ranked as one of the Best out there…Eric McVicar, Don Kuhl, Jamie Price, Mark Bare, and Kevin Short…..Joe Bell and Mike Holt was in the Crew helping at EastBay…
His Sponsors are:: Advanced Technologies in Flora, Il/ Mullins Racing Engines/ Lightning Chassis, Ky./Superior Fuels,Newton,Il/ Torco Fuels,Newton,Il/ McClane Motors, Newton, Il/The Medicine Shoppe, Newton, Il/ Afco Racing Products, Booneville, In/ Dairy Queen, Newton, Il/ R.A. I asked him what his best memory so far has been and he said it was just having a good time at doing something he really enjoys doing..
When asked if he had anyone he wanted to give a special thanks to he said that he appreciated his wife's support and understanding and for his families support and his friends and fans..
And a special thanks to all who sponsor him!!!

UPDATED INTERVIEW WITH CHAD KINDER : SEPTEMBER 12, 2009

Chad Kinder is 37 years old and lives in Newton, Illinois with his wife Jeena and two daughters Payton and Sydney...

Chad even though he travels to tracks all over the midwest he considers Clay County Speedway his hometrack as well as his favorite to run..

He runs the #22 modifed with a "Donnie Adams " Lightning Chassi and a Mullins Engine...

The reason behing his #22.... it was his football number in highschool..
and the "S" is for his brother Will Snyder..

The year he started his racing career....1995 in a street stock..
He went into a modified in 1996...

I asked what had inspired him to start racing.... he looked at his brother and said "the a_ _ h_ _ _ Snyder..... ...***** I remember that story.... Will was the first to start racing and Chad would go and watch....he made the remark that it didn't look that hard...Will told him if he thought it was so easy then do it..........HE DID....said the first year he never got around the track without wrecking.....wasn't that easy....

To be a good driver Chad said you have to have patience and you have to have determination....

His goal in racing is to win 200 features...................**** I know you aren't far from that****************

When asked who his toughest competitor was he said anyone who races with the UMTS.......they are tough...

The driver that he most admires..........Chad and Will both said anyone who wins a special event in the UMTS Series...

Anything in racing he feels needed changing..........he agrees with most the drivers..."they need to be paid more"...

A Racing Highlight that stands out for Chad was winning the "Fall Featherlite Nationals in Minnesota for the modified.......

I asked if he liked the high groove or the low groove he told me "opposite of the guy in front of him"...
He does like to race a dry slick track...

His Crew Chief is his brother Will Snyder...
Crew Members are: Dennis Waggle, Joe Bell, Eric McVicar, Luke, Kevin and Max Short, Knappy, and Jamie Price

recap on the year Kinder had

Posted by: cj22carcar Nov 16 2005, 10:10 PM
This year was different then what we Kinder fans were use to from privious years..seemed like we were always on the road going somewhere and it would be friday and saturdays and sometimes sundays.... WE LOVED IT .... Team #22 was in hot pursuit for UMP Points...........
This year Team #22 chose not to run for the UMP Points..but instead ...run for money............. it took some getting use to... in the years before we knew every weekend that we would be going racing somewhere and many times had a convoy going on following them.......... boy was that FUN..... ...this year we had to adjust to the new format of Team #22............ can't say I always liked it but such is life ... and racing for money sure did pay off for Chad Kinder and Team #22... We Kinder fans sure was proud of him !!!!!
This year he did not have as many wins as normal and he ended up like #99 in UMP Points.......BUT............. he still had 14 wins with only racing many weekends only on one night...
He started the year out in East Bay, Florida where he ended up taking a seventh after spinning out early on in the race and then playing catch up rest of race... He had qualified fastest every night there but one...
He raced with the USMTS Series and did very well First race was in Mayetta, Kansas where he won his heat and took second in feature behind Kelly Shyrock....Next USMTS race was at Lebanon , Mo where he took first in his heat and went on to win the feature with Terry Phillips taking second to him...3rd USMTS race was in at Scotland Co. Speedway in Memphis, Mo where he again took second in feature behind Kelly Shryock..... I was lucky enough to get to go to the 4th USMTS race at Lebanon, Mo... I enjoyed talking with Jason Hughes again and meeting his son..getting to meet Mark Noble was a great honor and was glad to finally get an interview with Kelly Shyrock...Chad took a 3rd behind the first of Al Hejna and 2nd of Dean Mahlstedt...... Chad Kinder went back to Lebanon, Mo the following week but at the Midway Speedway where he took 4th in his heat but came back in the Feature to win ........THIS WAS CHAD'S 150TH WIN OF HIS CAREER.... and I missed it !!!!!
Chad raced in Clarksville, Tennessee...KLMS in Calvert City, Ky.....Fayette Co.,Brownstown, Il.....Kankakee , Il....Kamp at Boswell, In....Nebo, Ky...Vermillion Co, Danville, Il.....Clay Co, Flora, Il...Florence, Ky...Tri City, Pontoon Beach.....Fairbury, Il.....Brownstown, In....Lawrenceburg, In.....Britt, Iowa..Deercreek Minnesota... plus Kansas , Missouri and Florida making that 8 states he traveled to and raced at nineteen different tracks...
Although I feel every race I go to is more exciting then the last I would say my favorite this year was the USMTS race that I went to and also the race at Tri City where Chad drew that last spot and had to race his way to the front of his heat to win ..went into the dash in last and worked his way up to front to win.. then started on front row of the feature only to spin out and have to go to the tail....by finish Chad had went all the way back to front finishing 2nd behind Scott Weber...what a show !!!!
We Kinder fans learned about mid season that Team #22 was going on a new venture next season........... They will be running a Bob Pierce Late Model House Car with a Mullins Engine......... I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM IN THAT CAR !!!!!! I told him I would give him a couple of weeks to get use to it ....
This year I got acquainted with Dennis Waggle and with Ben Stanley... two big +'s for the team... Team #22 has a great crew... Will Snyder ,crew chief; Don Kuhl; Eric McVicar; Jamie Price; Kevin Short, Luke, Max Short, Joe Bell and special help from Brian Knapp, Joel, and Troy Leonard...

Chad's total for the year was:
Feature Races
1st's 14
2nd's 6
3rd's 2

Heat Races
1st's 25
2nd's 7
3rd's 3

Thanks guys for a great year.... can't wait til next season !!!!!!!
