Chuck Martin is 25 years old and lives in Tuscola, Illinois
He runs the #7x hornet. It is a Ford Escort GT with a maza 1.8 engine.
I asked if there was a reason behind his #7x... He told me that 7 was his lucky number.
He claims Charleston Speedway as his hometrack and also his favorite track to run...
Chuck started racing at age 17 in go carts.... He started racing hornets last year..
I asked Chuck what had inspired him to start racing......He told me that he had been going to the races for a long time and wanted to race himself but funds were short........When he got the money he got a car.........
He feels to be a good driver you need to have patience and have "good luck"...
The driver he most admires: JORDAN SMITH
The driver he feels is his toughest competitor: JIM CROSS,JR and ERIC WINN
His goal in racing is to get a feature win and he wants to finish in the top 5 in points this year...
When asked if there was anything in racing he felt needed changed... He told me he would like to see racing the way it use to be........and the prices cheaper..
A racing highlight for Chuck was being able to get back into the top five in points after being tore up on opening night and having to set out for 4 weeks... When he came back he said for a couple of weeks he kept breaking down when dumb things went wrong......Said he finally got his feature win and broke into the top five in pts....
He likes to race the high groove on a tacky track.
He is his own Crew Chief
His Crew Members are "the Escort boys"..
Chuck wanted to thank his dad Chuck,Sr for all his help and to Tara....
