CHARLESTON SPEEDWAY, CHARLESTON, ILLINOIS
AUGUST 23, 2008

Donovan Stark is 28 years old and lives in Oakland, Illinois with his wife Sabrina and son Charles.

He runs the #34c hornet wihich is a Ford ZX2. It has a 2.0 engine..
When asked if there was a reason for his number... He said it has always been in the family...

His hometrack is Charleston Speedway but his favorite track to run is Clay County Speedway in Flora, Illinois.... ........He said because of gas prices he stays closer to home......said he has raced at Flora and came home with not a scratch on his car..Said there is a lot of side by side racing with no touching at Clay Co..

Donovan said he started his racing career at age 22 in the hornet class...

I asked what had inspired him to start racing. He told me that he had wanted to race since he was a kid.... He said once he got out on his own he made it happen...

The driver he most admires: MARK MARTIN

The driver he feels is his toughest competition.........He told me he could not just name one.. He said that Jim Cross,jr, Eric Winn and Jesse Leo are all tough...

Donovan feels to be a good driver you need patience.......to be consistent....and it takes a lot of time...

HIs goal in racing is to finish his race with minimal damage....

When I asked him if there was anything in racing that needed to be changed....he told me he feels there needs to be two classes of hornets.... one for the more experienced racers and one for the beginners..................**that makes sense***

A racing highlight for him was racing door to door for 3 laps with Jim Cross, jr and never touching....

Donovan likes to race the high groove on a dry slick track...but added...he can race on both...

Crew Chiefs for Donovan is Jeremy Gunner and Floyd Stark..
A Crew Member is Alponzo Leo.

Donovan wanted to give a big thanks to Starks Auto,,,,, and to PDR Machine Shop..

Donovan...thankyou for the interview.. was nice to meet you... maybe I will catch you at Clay Co some time..

what i ment to say about the 2 diffrent hornet classes is they need to expand us i feel like so we can start opening our wings to show people what these 4 cyc are made of. We are actually just scratching the surface of what these cars can do. I think its time to start evlolving this class to a higher level with a new "SUPER HORNET" class. It would be more or less like the diffrence in super street to street class. Let us build better faster motors, better dirt tires or whatever size we need to run, let us change suspention in them to handle the dirt better yet. Theres some people that are pushing the envelope somewhat as is, witch i am not complaining about cause its part of the evolution of racing. Just like with other classes, they start bone stock and slowly evolve. the streets and them when they first came out couldnt lock there rear ends, had to keep there fenderwells in, and everything was more or less as it was if it was drove on the street. I just think its getting close to the time to let another class start breathing. On top of that note, how many camaros and all of that are left out there to keep putting on the dirt. Even though i know its years and years away, i think the 4 cyc is going to take alot over....at min a 6cyc. Let me know what everyone thinks
