We left Robinson around 11:30 saturday and headed for our motel room in Rantoul....we checked in ..freshened up and headed to Fairbury...
We parked on the backside of the field and waited for the Bare's to get there...
I met a nice lady who told me she had worked for Fairbury for 22 years but no longer did...said her Uncle had been on the fairboard and her, her mother and sister had worked for the track for years.....
She said that she missed seeing all her friends.... while we were talking Dennis Erb pulled in....she was close friends with him...said she had saw him grow up...
We headed to the bleachers and got our seats... I ran into Mike Turley...a team member for Aaron Ricketts.#95 late model..... Has been a while since I had seen Mike... he is now married and has a little boy....said he does not get to help Aaron out as much as he use to....... I got to meet Aaron's fiance too...very nice young lady...
The rain held off for the night but did get a little nippy but not bad...
There were 37 modifieds........was a 40 lap feature for $2000 ..
Fast qualifier was Eric Bruce #128 with 13.93..........the record is held by Lance Dehm with 13.897
There were four heats...
Heat one: Chad Kinder, Eric Bruce, Wes Stedinger, Kevin Hastings, Jim Farris, s8, 7, Bachman
Heat two: Jared Landers, Dave Porth, Ledford,Pohlman,Curl,Friedman,Denny Schwartz, 38, 5, Darcy Wade
Heat three: Kevin Weaver,Guss,jr, XIII, Unzicker ****Leka was leading and had to pull out**
Heat four: Jason Hastings,Cook,jr, Wenger,Duncan,Sandage,#00, #63, Nichols, #4
In the modified semi Jeff Leka came out and started on front row but he again had to pull off..the #d1 of Lance Dehm also had to pull off
Winner was the #36 of Kevin Hastings...***WHICH I WANT TO POINT OUT WENT INTO THE FEATURE 17TH SPOT AND WENT ON TO WIN ***

**the 64 x car was ran by Wes Stedinger in the heat ...in the feature it was ran by Jeff Leka.........
they asked management if it would be ok for Jeff to run the car in the feature and was told it was ok as long as he went to tail to start...............after the race was over he was forfeited and told that he was disqualified...that he should not have been allowed to race....... WHAT !!!!!!!!
Chad had been in the lead for about ten laps and then was passed by Landers.... that #36 was coming up fast ... Chad got into the wall and broke an A frame and had to pull out ............. bummer !!!!
There was a really hard crash between Denny Schwartz, Gary Cook,jr and Jason Hastings was caught up in it...........I assumed it was Denny Schwartz's fault since he was to go to the tail of race and then went flying off the track....... I later learned that was not the case... he was not charged with the caution but because he came to a stop on the track he had to go to the tail....he also had a broken A frame...
Denny and Gary were both running a hard race ///Gary coming up from mid pack and Denny coming up from the tail....
There also was a car that had a pretty major flip in front of the grandstand...I got a picture of him on his lid but not catch his name or number....does anyone know who it was????
I had a good time ...track was pretty good...........
headed to the motel room where the Bare's were also staying...........
On to Vermilion Co in the morning...
