Daniel Heck is 19 years old and lives in Mt. Vernon. Illinois... He has a one year old son Damon..
Daniel runs the #55 crate late model with a CJ Rayburn Chassi and a 604 crate engine..
I asked Daniel if there was a reason behind the #55 and he said "nope..just the number I started out with.."....
He claims Mt Vernon as his hometrack and also his favorite track to run... HIs dad Rick and mom Bev are part owners of the track..
He started his racing career at age 13 in a hornet and has been in a crate late model for three years..
He does not have a driver that he admires........
His toughest competitor he said is his brother Aaron....
When asked what he thought it took to be a good driver he told me getting plenty of seat time....getting in as many races as you can...
His goal in racing is to one day run a super late model...
Racing highlights that stand out for him is getting two feature wins last year ........and.....in his first year runnning a crate he took 2nd for Rookie of the Year...
I asked Daniel what groove he liked to run and he told me with him it depends on what track you are at...all are different............. He does like to race on a rubbered up track..
His Crew Chief is his Uncle Bud Heck.
Crew Members are his dad Rick, his mom Bev and Uncle Bud..
He wanted to give a big thanks out to his mom and dad for putting him in a crate.......
Thankyou for the interview Daniel ... was nice meeting you... hopefully I will catch you again at a track this season..
