APRIL 26, 2008
Kelby Simmons is 19 years old and lives in Effingham, Illinois .. He has a son Brayden..
Kelby runs the #808 street stock with a Anderson Boys Racing Toys chassi and a 406 engine..
He also has a modified which he has yet to hit the field in...
Kelby claims Clay County speedway as his home track but his favorite track is Farmer City Raceway...........
I asked him what had inspired him to start racing.... He told me his dad Robert Simmons .. HIs dad also races in the street stock division..
Kelby told me that he started his racing career in motor cross but broke his leg and had to stop racing...His dad thought it would be safer to have him in a street stock...
He told me that he felt you needed to be consistent to be a good driver...
His only goal in racing is just to have fun...
Kelby told me that Tim Feldhake has been his toughest competitor...
A racing highlight that stands out for him was being able to qualify for the "Loretta Lynn's Motor Cross " event....
He likes to run the high groove and a tacky track..
His crew chief is his dad Robert Simmons and Josh Frazier
He wanted to give a big thanks out to Northside Ford and to Goodman Simmons and to the Andersons and a special thanks out to his dad....
Nice to meet you Kelby... hope to catch you in the modified soon...
