Tolson 2nd in Homecoming.. Walton, Kentucky native Shawn Tolson proved Saturday night the old saying “You can always come home” is oh so true. The driver known as “Big Daddy” to his fans returned to Florence Speedway Saturday night for the Spring 50 weekend. Despite the not so racecar friendly track conditions, Tolson was still able to work his fans into a frenzy in the feature. The pill draw format forced the 52T machine to start near the tail of his heat race, but “Big Daddy” worked his way to the front before the midway point. While battling another car, the two made contact sending Tolson spinning down the frontstretch and slamming him into the wall. Once again, the Tolson Motorsports team showed their resiliency, by repairing the car and getting “Big Daddy” back out for the feature, where he would roll off from the 13th position. When the green flag flew, Tolson dropped the hammer on his Ahines powered modified and headed to the front chasing down and catching eventual winner Joey Kramer. When the checkers flew “Big Daddy”, while riding the rim, had worked his way into an impressive 2nd place finish in front of all his hometown friends and family.

“I’m not sure what happened in the heat race, I thought I left him room, I knew he would get a run off the corner so I tried staying down to give him room,” said “Big Daddy” of the on-track incident with another competitor. “Someone said I crowded him and someone else said he turned into me, sounds like a racing deal to me because I know I wouldn’t ever do anything like that on purpose. All I know is I was going to go for it in the feature and let me tell you that Ahines Power Plant is stocked full of power, that was the first time I have really got to feel it and man was it awesome. I packed the right rear tire with mud early on and it started vibrating like crazy. It was really affecting me on my corner entry, I might have had something for Joey if that hadn’t happened. It was a fun night and I’m really excited about heading to Tazwell next weekend for the BOB race.”

“Big Daddy” and his Tolson Motorsports racing team are set to kick off the Battle of the Bluegrass Modified season on the high-banked 1/3-mile dirt oval of “The Taz”. Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee will play host to the BOB series opener with a $2,000 to win show that will headline a full night of racing at the Tennessee track. Stay in touch with the ultra competitive 2008 BOB Modified series by logging onto http://www.battleofthebluegrass.com/bobmod/index.php

As always, Tolson Motorsports wishes to thank all of their sponsors which include: Automasters, Second Glance Hair Salon, All Star Automotive, Kickshots Billiards, Moreland’s One Stop, R&B Motorsports, Bob Pierce Chassis, Ahines Engines and Valvoline Oil.

“Big Daddy” still has a few of the 2007 Shirts available in sizes Large and X-Large, the shirts will be available at any place you see the 52T on the track. The pricing is $10 for one or $15 for 2.
