FALL NATIONALS AT BROWNSTOWN INDIANA
$5000 TO WIN 100 LAP RACE
SEPT. 29, 2007

I think..... I hope.......I have waited long enough to write my comments........

We left the house at ten oclock so I could get to the pit area early enough to get some interviews before they got too busy.... we got there right at one.......two their time....that was when the gates were suppose to be open ..............but no one was there to take money...............there were very few cars in the pit area at that time as well..... we parked in the lot and waited........someone in a car came by and took our money for gate admission.... I was trying to decide whether I wanted to pay the extra $15 to go to the pit area when most the cars that were there I had already interviewed.. I decided I would wait and see how many cars came in..............well after sitting in bleachers I got lazy and decided not to go to pit area....the cars kept rolling in and they did finally get a car count of 60 modifieds.........numerous super streets and bombers....
They did group qualifying which I like......and they gave them two laps which messed me up rolleyes.gif I only kept the first lap of Denny Schwartz and John Davis and Shay ....then I realized they were getting two ......ME BAD!!! sorry guys...
Brady Short was fast qualifier overall with 15.913........the record there is 15.573..........did not hear who had set it....Chad Kinder was second with 15.924 and Greg Johnson third with 15.944
Top drivers in each group were: 1...Brady Short 15.913.......2..Greg Johnson 15.944............3..Chad Kinder 15.924........4..Todd Sherman 15.975...........5..Danny Schwartz 15.972....6..Devin Gilpin 16.108
In heat one you had Flick and Denny Schwartz on front row with John Henry and Brady Short on second row..............Brady Short got out to an early lead ..Denny was right on his heal with Al Flick right behind him..... Brady started falling back and Denny passed him up....at the finish of the race Mark Bare told me that you could see by looking at Brady's car that he had broke a ball joint.....there had been only one caution in this heat.. finish was....Denny Schwartz...Brady Short (these two go to feature)...John Henry #18, Earl Plessenger #39, Al Flick #3,.....
In heat two Larry Anderson and Ryan Thomas was on front row, second row was Londeree and Greg Johnson...............Ryan got out to an early lead and stayed there til the checkered flag....there were six cautions in this heat... ..... the second place car was Greg Johnson but was dq'ed at the scale for being light so second was awarded to Tyler Wiese #50.....third was Jeff Ochs
In heat three front row was Daryl Herbert and Randy Petro, second row was Bob Pohlman and Chad Kinder..
There was a flag thrown on the start of the race for a false start by the number 48 of Derek Groomer..after that the race was caution free with Chad Kinder getting out to the lead and staying there for the finish with Chris Streeval crossing second .......third was Derek Groomer....
Heat four front row was Scott Weber and Gabe Menser, second row was Shelby Miles and Todd Sherman..
On the start of this race going around turn two Weber squeezed Menser over the burn where he stopped..the #28 car coming around slid into Menser hitting him in the rear pretty hard.... both #g1 and #28 pulled off track....the #4j of Weber got out in front and stayed there til the finish with the #76 of Shelby Miles second...Todd Sherman crossed over third...........
Heat five Matt Bex and Kevin Weaver was on front row...second row was Clint Demoss and Danny Schwartz....... Matt Bex got out to an early lead and then here came Danny Schwartz... coming around turn four he did a slide job on Bex passing him cleanly for first.... then here comes Kevin Weaver....he gets the lead from Schwartz.............there were two cautions in this heat....winner was Kevin Weaver, 2nd was Danny Schwartz..3rd was Matt Bex...
Heat six fron row was Dennis Boknecht and Matt Huddleston, 2nd row was Daryl Herbert and Devin Gilpin..Rob Fuqua and Bub Patrick was on third row....first caution came out for Rob Fuqua who got into the tire in turn two..he had to go to tail...caution two came out for the #25 of Patrick who spins in turn one...he got his spot back .#27 was charged with spinning him out...#27 to tail.....
winner was Devin Gilpin, 2nd was Matt Huddleston..3rd was Daryl Herbert
Consi's the top three went to the feature... In consi one Greg Johnson, Al Flick and John Davis transfer
..Earl Plessinger who had led for a while and then was in second behind Johnson spins in turn two and has to go to the tail.......
Consi two three to transfer were Derek Groomer, Gabe Menser and Randy Petro...Todd Sherman missed out by one spot...... Everett Bradham pulled off right at the start of race.....I missed what happened in caution one...**people standing in front of me** the #27 was being pulled off by wrecker and the #65 of Sherman had went to tail....caution two was for the #22 of Matt Boknecht who spins in turn 4..caution 3 was for the #46 and the #90 ........
Consi three to transfer is Daryl Herbert, Don Adams, and Clint Demoss...Bex is 4th and Fuqua 5th...three cautions in this consi..
NOw the Feature............what a dissappointment.... I don't even want to write this up......I hope Brownstown NEVER has this race again.......
The Big important Event of the NIght........... they bring the cars out.... do not introduce the drivers...they just start the race.... I could not even get the lineup wrote down....
The front row was Denny Schwartz on pole..outside was Ryan Thomas..second row was Chad Kinder..outside him was Scott Weber..3rd row was Kevin Weaver ...........all I got....
Denny Schwartz got out to the early lead with Chad Kinder on his tail.... they raced back n forth.... a caution comes out for Brady Short with two laps in....lineup...Schwartz, Kinder, Thomas, Weaver, Weber, #1, Miles, Da Schwartz,
on lap 6 Kevin Weaver had made his way up to pass both Kinder and Schwartz.....by lap 12 Chad passes Denny...it is Weaver...Kinder..Schwartz and Thomas..... .............a caution comes out for debrie...#46 of Brady Short is on the tail..............Weaver was in the lead til lap 25 when Kinder made his way to the front.....next lap Denny Schwartz got around Weaver...... another caution comes out when the #50 of Tyler Wiese goes over the burm......with 28 laps in it is Kinder...De Schwartz, Weaver, Da Schwartz and Miles...
another caution for debrie on lap 32.....on lap 38 Weaver is back to the front racing side by side with Chad...by lap 42 Chad pulls away from Weaver..................by lap 46 he is in lap traffic...laps #50...caution comes out for the #50 car when he loops it and goes over burn in 4..........
Ten minute pit stop at lap 50.... running order: Kinder..Weaver..De Schwartz..Miles..#1.....Denny Schwartz got penalized two spots for not being nose to tail with driver in front of him on restart......Right before the pit stop Danny Schwartz had pulled off and came back after the pitstop two laps down....he had to fix a broken spring.....
lap 58 it is Kinder, Weaver, Miles, Johnson, #1, #1, De Schwartz, #30 and Thomas....by lap #61 Scott Weber pulls off..
by lap 66 Chad is getting into lap traffic again... passes the #66 ...passes the #3....Gabe Menser pulls off....Denny Schwartz pulls off......Donnie Adams pulls off...
with 68 laps in it is Kinder..Weaver..MIles..JOhnson.............by lap 80 Matt HUddleston pulls off.....
By lap 89 Greg Johnson had taken over second.....Kevin Weaver blew up and went around the track a lap before pulling off....91 laps to go...........with 94 laps in Brady Short pulls off
And the finish.......
CHAD KINDER WINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and were we excited !!!!!!!! That was a good race.....................Chad Kinder won this race last year and he was a repeat winner this year.......Team #22 came out on the field to the Winner's Circle to wait for Chad..... my hubby went down....Gennie Bare went to take pictures..................and it was announced they were pulling the front three cars MDS boxes...
Ok....that is fine....but why didn't they allow them to come out to the track and get their recognition....their pictures taken and get interviewed.............WHAT A DUMB MOVE !!!!!!!!
Then they have a ten car Dash with Hard Charger winners from Brownstown.... sorry... I was so pizzed I went home..... and a Big complaint of mine is that one of the cars that raced in that race was one that was suppose to be getting his MDS box removed...... the dash was held up for a long time waiting for Shelby Miles to come race.................... now this has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT BEING SHELBY OR GREG OR CHAD.....
that race should have been ran before the Feature if they knew they were going to take the boxes of the top finishers...............
I feel that Brownstown made some stupid calls on this one......and as I stated before..... nothing wrong with pulling MDS boxes... probably should be done more often..... kinda late in the season to be worrying about it now though don't ya think......
They are worried about awarding the winner the right to an interview, the right to recognition of a great win, the right to a picture being taken of what was suppose to be the Fall Nationals and a great race to win....because just incase the winner is found illegal.......then it wouldn't be fair to the real winner....WHAT A JOKE............... now...when Kinder's MDS box comes back ok............how can you ever make up what you have done..............the thrill and excitement of that night is forever lost.........what a shame....what a let down...........what an embarrassment for Brownstown.....

CJ you really disappointed me with your comments, we had no choice but to leave the three cars back there at the scales, UMP would not let us even speak of the results.

We couldnt pull the cars onto the track for an intro due to curfew.

It was a bad night for all involved, but to say you hope we dont have this race next year is a bit extreme. We will probably have it, and hopefully everything goes a lot smoother.

saying this.......you gotta understand......... I stick by how I feel and I feel it was wrong how this went down....................and Chris.........................you need to know that I find out a lot of the inside stuff that goes on at the tracks........and I DO NOT SAY ANYTHING..... I keep it to myself............so ...I do know a little more about what went on saturday then you might think....

Wow imagine that, someone says something bad about Btown and Chris gets offended. Chris get over it. No matter where you go tracks will have something negative about them because everyone has a different opinoin. BTown is no better then any other track in my world.

The answer to the question that nobody asked....

If you would read my post again, youd notice that I didnt disagree with what she said. I just told her that UMP made the call NOT to send the drivers out.

Question?????

Has the UMP officials ever done anything like this before????

How does the Ump expect people to go to the races and not have the winners recognized and then hold on to the winnings?????

You have to remember that without the fans and the racers you have nothing!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the victory lane celebration is what these drivers, crews and fans live for!!

I bet there is only one driver that can actually say that he made money Saturday and that might be questionable.
Drivers and crews work on these cars all week long because they love the thrill and celebration.

I know all the NASCAR guys say they would race for free, they just love to race. I bet you can find that same answer with all the drivers there Saturday night. Last time I checked there is no one at this level making millions of dollars winning races!!! That just tells you that these guys are here for the recognition and the bragging rights.

I bet Chad would have liked to send his new chassis manufacturer a nice big picture of the new car in winners circle at a big event!!!!!

I sure hope the UMP officials will come up with some comments and some solutions so this kind of thing dont happen again.

The Brazil Times by Carey Fox

For fans of the modifieds and late models, this is your big weekend as Eldora Speedway will host the UMP Nationals.

Many of the nation's top drivers will be hitting the 'Big E' this weekend with Saturday's A-Main's paying $3,000 for the modifieds and $10,000 for the late models.

On a side note, with even tracks in Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana offering bigger winner's checks for modified events, it would certainly be nice to see a bigger top prize for the Nationals at Eldora. It's pretty assured that the car count will be huge because of the acclaim of a win at Eldora, but why not run a Friday prelim feature that pays a $1,000 or more or maybe make Saturday's B-Main pay out bigger to help pad the towing money that it costs to make the long haul for some of the smaller budget guys?

While we're on the topic of modifieds and big paying shows, looks like all heck has broken loose after last weekend's Lawrenceburg's $5,000 to win event.

Chad Kinder took the checkers in what should have been a great night for him and his team. But wait!

The UMP was there and confiscated the MSD boxes from Kinder as well as second-place Greg Johnson and Shelby Miles, who placed third.

So 'official' results seem to still be pending while the UMP determines whether any of the top-three were using traction control devices.

Worse still, was that Kinder didn't even get a chance to have his picture taken, give an interview to his fans in the crowd or, perhaps worst, didn't get a picture with the 'big check!'

It's a shame that after all the hard work that went in to the weekend for not only Kinder, but his crew, that he didn't have a chance to celebrate or salute his fans. Afterall, the fans are what this sport is all about, if it wasn't for them, it would certainly be hard to make a big event like that happen. For those of you interested, the results, unofficial of course were: MIDWEST MODIFIED NATIONALS: Chad Kinder, Greg Johnson, Shelby Miles, Daryl Herbert, Devin Gilpin, Brent Londeree, Chris Streeval, Randy Petro, Derek Groomer, Al Flick, Brady Short, Kevin Weaver, Clint Demoss, Matt Huddleston, Danny Schwartz, Don Adams, Denny Schwartz, Gabe Menser, Scott Weber, Tyler Weiss, John Davis.
