Bear Wieck Memorial
Sept 1, 2007

This was our first time at Moler Raceway Park.. it took us 4 and a half hours to get there.... was a pretty drive through Ohio...
I got to the pit area not to much before the drivers meeting so I was rushed to get the interviews I got because the guys were busy ...
I got interviews with Mark Thomas #21t Late Model.... he was not racing tonight due to breaking his wrist in a race related accident...said it happened last of July and is hoping to get back to racing in a couple of weeks............Larry Moreland, Sr #21m.........Wayne Chinn #1 late model driver who went on to win the feature tonight.. and the #15 modified of Ray Bransum....
As soon as I got to the pit area I ran into my good friend Pam Leka... she said they had got there around 2:15 and had to wait in line to get into the pit area which open about ten til three...
Pam said that Sabrina Cramer was there and she took me over to where they were parked.... she looks so cute pregnant....she is due the last part of October..
Went to Team #22's and talked to my boys Chad Kinder, Eric McVicar, Dennis Waggle and Jamie Price...and Don Kuhl....
The first impression of the track............dusty ...dusty...dusty... dusty... and did I say dusty???? The bleachers are really nice.... the concession was fine to me... I had chicken strips and a hot dog... both were fine.... I don't like having to drink pop in a cup though...especially not at a track that is so dusty... once you sit it down you don' t want to drink it again... I would rather pay $2 for a bottle of pop then $1.25 for a sm cup of pop...
I saw several drivers there that I knew.... John Demoss, Tony Anderson, Jeff Leka, Jesse Cramer, Josh Ferguson, Matt Huddleston, Gabe Menser, Denny and Danny Schwartz, Eddie Shamhart, Randle Sweeney and David McWilliams..
I counted 54 modifieds.. there were 5 heats.. top three to feature... a d..c...and b main
In heat one the three to advance was Randle Sweeney, Danny Schwartz and Laster #29L

In heat two the three to advance was Bruce Gould III, Josh Scott and Denny Schwartz......Jeff Leka missed the transfer by one spot finishing 4th

In heat three the three to advance was Chad Kinder, #11 and Ray Humphrey... in this heat the BB1 of Brad Wieck got out to an early lead but Kinder reeled him in taking the lead.... Jesse Cramer coming on strong going around turn four trying to pass Wieck got into him ..Jesse got around him but the #BB! spun out collecting the #14, the #21 ........the #BB1 was frustrated and he flew around the track and as Jesse Cramer was in front of the grandstand Wieck drove right into the rear of his car very hard bending Cramer's car up..The BB1 was blk flagged and was not allowed to race any more saturday night.... I heard two stories on his availability to race sunday........heard the track was going to allow it.. then heard he wasn't allowed...
The Wieck Crew did go over to the Cramer pit and started yelling at Jesse and Sabrina........ Denny Schwartz and Jeff Leka went over to aid.........****
Also in this heat after Ray Humphrey had made it to the second spot on a restart after a caution he went inside the cone and had to go to the tail... by end of race he had made it back to 3rd..... the #30t of Herbert missed the transfer spot by one

In heat four the three to transfer was David McWilliams, Shawn Tolson and the #8.....
on the start of this race the #37 and the #76 of Lawson crashed coming out of turn three... this put Huddleston on the front row with the #15 on the restart..... Matt was called for a false start (?????) **didn't look any different then most the others........ so he had to go to the tail..... by end of race he had got back to 5th but missed the transfer

In heat five three to transfer was Rick Curtin, $135 amd Billy Williams..

consi D top five go to c..............6 laps

1..Josh Ferguson
2..#20
3..#23
4..Brandon Dierlam #BW3
5..#13

consi C
1.. #79b
2..Jesse Cramer #12t
3..#4
4..David Cook #21
5..Jerry Lawson #76
in this consi there was a really bad accident when the #3h got side ways hit the wall and went up in air and the #22t of Tony Anderson drove underneath of him causing him to land on the hood and windshield area..... Tony was pretty shook up...........they were done for the night... the #3h never came back for sunday's race and the #22t team pieced their car together and got it back and ready to race for sunday..
a caution came out for debrie and at same time the #2f of Ferguson pulled off the track...
Ed Shamhart pulled off the track also before restart with a flat tire...

The B Main ........5 cars to feature....
1..Jeff Leka
2..John Demoss
3..Gabe Menser
4..Matt Huddleston

The feature was really good... Sweeney and Gould started on the front row with Kinder and Curtain on second row and third row was McWilliams and Da Schwartz..
Randle Sweeney got out in front with Chad on the chase.... he just could not pull of the pass and Randle went on to win a very impressive battle........the #21d of Danny finished 3rd and David McWilliams took 4th Gould, Tolson, De Schwartz, Humphrey, Leka , Demoss and Menser...

BIG DAWG
SEPT 2, 2007

We got to the track earlier today so I could try to get more interviews....
I went and looked up Kim Moler to talk with her.........both Kim and her husband Kevin come from racing families........Kevin's grandfather Victor "Ike" Moler owned the Mt Orab Speedway in the mid 50's....both Kevin and Kim have raced.... Kevin raced in the late model division in the early 90[s in Ohio and Kim raced street stock ..the #7 in Brown Co..... she would be remembered as Kim Blair....

Kevin and Kim have two children Victor Joseph "Joey" 20 yrs old and 8 yr old Bethany..
Kim said that their track was a multi family task on a low budget....
She said she was happy with running the track but it was very stressful..... said there were so much to do...she feels she is pulled in many different directions at one time.... it was really nice to talk with Kim..

I then started my way into the pit area......man was it hot today.... I got interviews with Shon Flanary, Daryl Herbert, Jason Perry, Frank Lucini, Josh Scott, Keaton Streeval, Chris Streeval, Jim Szekacs, Denny Szakacs , Larry Moreland,jr and late model driver Dan Hurt.....

There were about 63 modifieds today.. Shelby MIles, Ryan Thomas and Greg Johnson were new arrivals ...
I ran into cute little Heather Thomas and talked with her and her hubby Ryan... such a cute couple...
Pam and Jeff Leka came up and we all talked for a while.....
I got to meet Queen Of the Pits from 4m and did not know it until today when i was on 4m ... was so nice to meet her.... she loves racing like I do....
I made the rounds today and talked with some of the drivers that I had met before. and took some new pictures.... Randle Sweeney...asked about his brother Michael who had an accident earlier in the year..*life threatening* he said he was doing great... .. talked with David McWilliams and got some new pictures... ran across John Demoss and his crew chief.... also went to talk with Eddie Shamhart...
I got quite a few pictures of the cars lined up to go on the track.. I will add them soon...

The track looked better today... I think they watered it more but it was really rough... you could see the water truck bouncing up and down as it was going around the track...

I wrote up most of what happened in the Big Dawg race in the results.... there were a lot of cars tore up...the feature started with 24 cars and ended with only 11.... wheels coming off the cars... and I don't know what happened to Todd Gilpin's car but his wheels were very slanted outward....something had to be broken... he got black flagged and was not real happy about it and he held nothing back in letting the flagman know he didn't agree with him.....

After the incident with Brad Wieck he did not show up for the sunday race... I don't know if it was by choice or by demand... but anyway... he was not there....

After all the good racing that Ray Humphrey did he got it all taken away when after the drivers introduction he could not get his car to fire up for the feature..... they gave him plenty of time to try but just couldn't get it to start........
Two guys who ran really well this weekend Frank Lucini #4 and John Demoss #79d had their night end because of losing a tire.......and I mean losing it........ Frank's came off and bounced up across Kinder's car...luckily it caused no damage for Kinder.... Demoss was running in 4th spot with 89 laps in and off came the tire..........
The worse wreck of sunday was i think when the #52t of Shawn Tolson got taken out in turn 4 when the cars crunched up and Denny ran over top of Tolson... his car looked bad....
Chad Kinder had a really good weekend..... was only the third time he had taken his GRT out and also without his regular Crew Chief Will Snyder.... Will had work committments he could not get out of.... thank goodness for 2nd in command Don Kuhl..... Chad went out and took a very demanding 2nd place in the Bear Wieck Memorial on saturday behind Randle Sweeney........and then on sunday he made the Feature where some very good cars did not make it and led for over half the race and then let Danny Schwartz get under him on a restart on the 69th lap....... Danny Schwartz went on to win the race and made his dad really happy ..
As Chad would say "2nd is the first loser"........ but you put on a very impressive race Mr. Kinder.... we were proud of you........gave us a lot to talk about and a very exciting weekend......... car looks great....

On way to the parking lot got to hollar at Jerry and Pam Huddleston.......lucky them... they had their motor home there and they were not leaving til morning.... we left out of there and got home at 4:45 a.m..... my hubby drove the whole way.... i told him I would drive but he said every time he looked over at me I was asleep and did not think it was a good idea to put me behind the wheel wink.gif works every time... biggrin.gif ...
I will be adding pics

Well I don't know Jesse other than seeing him race, but Brad's a good guy and a good driver, I was shocked to see him do that to Jesse, totally unlike Brad.... Kudos to you Brad for the apology, hope Jesse will except it ..

Bruce Gould III #30
