Travis Phipps is 21 years old and lives in Charleston, Illinois with his wife Ashley and children Morgan and Brayden..
He runs the #00 Camero in the Street Stock division with a 383 engine...
He told me the reason behind his number is that he was a big fan of Buckshot Jones of Nascar...
Travis claims Charleston Speedway as his hometrack and also his favorite track to run...
He started his racing career at age 14 in the street stock division....
Travis told me he had been inspired to start racing because his whole family was involved in it... He told me that his mother, Becky raced street stock, his dad Kevin raced and was track champ at Charleston in 1999 and his Uncle Darrell Phipps raced and was track champ at Charleston in 1995............
The driver that he most admires is Kurt Busch..
When I asked him who his toughest competitor was he told me that all the drivers at Charleston were tough....
I asked him what he thought it took to be a good driver and he said he thought you had to have it in you...born with it...
I asked Travis if he had a goal in racing and he said it was just never to give up......
Racing Highlight that stands out for Travis was when he got his first feature win...
He will race the high groove as well as the low groove....said you will find him wherever it is working the best..... He does however like to race on a dry slick track...
HIs Crew Chief is Chuck Shain, David's dad...
Crew Members are his dad Kevin, his uncle Darrell and Chuck Shain...
He wanted to give a thanks out to everyone who has helped him along the way...
Travis,,,, very nice to meet you.... glad you came to CCS and I hope you come back.....maybe I will catch you at Charleston some time...
