CLAY COUNTY SPEEDWAY
AUGUST 25, 2007

Scott Hutchinson is 33 years old and lives in Johnston City, Illinois with his wife Heidi and their children : daughter C.C. who is 12 years old and from what I hear a pretty good softball player...she is on a travel team and is their catcher and the reason why dad is not racing as much these days smile.gif .. I applaud you for that Scott....you can never get these years back with your kids....... and their son 6 year old Donovan... (maybe a future race car driver ???? )

Scott now runs the #13h crate late model with a Rocket Chassi and a #604 engine....
He said that his #13h was the number his dad Earl used when he raced...His dad raced in 1967 in Marion County.... He had a 1957 Chevy.............*** Earl was telling me that he raced back then with Ray Emling's #6 dad and with Rodney Melvin's #27 dad............. Scott told me he would get some pictures of his dad racing...... I am looking forward to those!!!! Can't believe I did not get a picture of Earl....... I was so excited to finally meet Scott that I was not thinking....

Scott considered Mt. Vernon his hometrack but now he travels so has no real hometrack.... His favorite to run is Greenville........

Scott started his racing career at age 17............he has raced a little bit of everything.... street stocks, ump modifieds, steel block late models, late model and went into crates in 2005...

He said that he had always been around racing.........his whole family is very involved in racing so that is what inspired him ..

When I asked him who the driver was he most admired he told me to come back to this question cause he had to think about it.............we never got back to it..... ohmy.gif

He feels that patience is the most important thing in becoming a good driver...

His goal in racing is just to have fun...........he says he had a lot of fun racing...

He said that Joe Morris has been one of his toughest competitors....

I asked Scott if he felt there was anything in racing that needed changed and he told me it needs to be made more affordable not only for the drivers but also the fans...

A racing highlight that stands out for Scott is taking 2nd in the points for the Fast Track Touring Series in 2005 and 2006...

Scott likes to run the low groove on a dry slick track..

His Crew Chief is Robbie Chitty and Team Members is his dad Earl and his Uncle Jim Still

He said he would like to give a big thanks to his mom Faye and to his dad Earl and his wife Heidi and kids C.C. and Donovan....

Scott.... .... it was great to finally get to meet you....... You sure were not a disappointment... very likeable guy............I really enjoyed talking with you and hope to run into you again...
Tell C.C. we forgive her for pulling you away from racing....she is worth it and I can tell dad is really proud of her !!!
Thanks so much for the interview Scott and looking forward to getting some pics of your dad Earl...
