Clay County Speedway
April 28, 2007
Chris Winters is 38 years old and lives in DuQuoin, Illinois... He is single..
Chris runs the #X crate late model with a CJ Rayburn chassi and a 602 Crate Engine..
I asked Chris if there was a reason behind his number ..... and he made me laugh...
He told me that everytime he picked a number he would have to add an X to it when he would go to a track to race.... He said he decided to drop the number and just stick with the " X "....
He says he really hasn't decided where he would call his hometrack but his favorite track to run is Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Ky.
He told me he started his racing career in 1990 in the late model division and went to the C.A.R.S Series last year...
I asked him what had inspired him to start racing and he told me his dad J.W. Moore... J.W. raced a modified at Mt. Vernon .. and has been to Clay County...
The driver Chris most admires is Tony Stewart ... and the driver he feels is his toughest competitor is Danny Jolly #U2..
When I asked him what he thought it took to be a good driver he told me "a lot of hard work!!!"
His goal for this year is to finish in the top 5 in points for the C.A.R.S Series..
The racing highlight that stands out for Chirs is being 3rd in the UMP Points his rookie year....
He likes to run the high groove on a tacky track...
Thanks Chris for the interview... goodluck this season..
