Rick Crane is 39 years old and lives in Fairfield, Illinois with his wife LeAnn and their four children..Marcus, Maxwell, Nichole and Brandy....
Rick runs the #70 hornet.. It is a Dodge Neon with a 2.0 single overhead cam engine
He says that Clay County Speedway is his hometrack and also his favoirtie to run...
He started his racing career last year in the hornet division at age 38...
I asked him what had inspired him to start racing and he laughed.... He said that him and his buddies were bored... hunting season was over and they had nothing to do... he said about 20 of them got together and started building hornets to race....they started out at Mt. Vernon racing....
The driver he most admires is Dale Earnhardt, Sr.... and the driver he says is his toughest competitor is Mike Mandrell #B0...
Rick said he felt that patience was what you need to have to be a good driver...
His goal in racing is getting his first win...
The highlight so far in his racing career was taking his first checkered flag in his heat race last weekend at Clay County...
He likes to run the middle groove on a dry slick track...
HIs Crew Chief is himself and team members is his son Marcus, wife LeAnn, Robbie Wood and about twenty other friends that help each other out....between them they have built about ten cars...
He said he would like to give a big thanks to Donnie Grimes, Tim White and to Billy..
Was really nice to meet you Rick.... and thankyou for putting my sticker on your car.. very much appreciated !!!!!
Hope to catch you at the racetrack again soon...
