Robbie Wood is 24 years old and lives in Wayne City, Illinois... He just recently got engaged to Nichole..the daughter of Hornet driver Rick Crane #70...
Robbie runs the #72 Hornet which is a stock chassi and has a 2.0 single over head cam engine
I asked Robbie if there was a reason behind his number.... He told me that there was a guy that raced an olsmobile in Mt. Vernon... he thought the car was pretty cool and the number was #72.... so he decided to use the same number...
Robbie claims Clay Co as his hometrack and also his favorite place to race...
He started his racing career just last season in the hornet division..... his story goes along with his soon to be father in laws........there is about 20 in this group that seems to be very close.. they work on each others car ............. Robbie has the welding knowledge........
Robbie told me he felt it takes patience to be a good driver AND calmness.........and..... a little bit but not too much out of controlness....
His goal is to be the best driver in his division..
Driver that he most admires is JEFF GORDON.......... alright Robbie!!!! my favorite too...
I asked if there was anything in racing he feels needed to be changed.... He said not really..not in the Hornet Class.... he said they gave you freedom.. but not toooooo much...
His highlight in racing so far was last weekend at Clay County when he got on two wheels going out of turn 3 and into turn 4... Said the camera man got a picture of it..... said he really didn't care to do a repeat performance.....
He likes to race on a tacky track and on the high groove...
When asked who his Crew Chief was he said that they just all helped each other out and named Rick Crane, James, Chuck and Marcus....
