Really nice getting to meet Robert and his wife Joy…
They are from Crown Point, Indiana..
He started out racing Sportsman in 1983 at the age of 22 yrs old. Then went to modified..He has raced Late Model also.
His long term goal is to travel around to all the big shows full time…
He said he feels that PATIENCE and being smooth and also being aggressive makes for a good driver..
When asked who he felt was his toughest competitor he answered with “Jimmy Owens”.
I think Robert was destined to be a race car driver. Both his grandfather and his father whom all share the same name were race car drivers. His grandfather raced at Soldiers Field and his father raced at Santa Fa, Illinois.
His greatest accomplishment and memory was winning the Winternationals at East Bay Raceway in 2002.
I asked him if he had anything that he would change if he could and he said that he would have tried to go professional sooner and also start at an earlier age.
His Pit Crew Chief is Butch Hatton and his Pit Crew is Kenny, his wife Joy, and Roy.
He wanted to say thanks to Butch and to Kenny for all the help, work and money plus the support that they give to him..
