Jammie runs the #61 modified with a custom made Wilson Chassi .. He has a K-Motion Racing Engine
His Hometrack is Kamp and it also is his favorite track to run...
I asked Jammie if there was a reason behind his number and he told me that his dad, Lannie used the #60 when he raced in the 60's and 70's... and when he started racing motor cross at the age of 11 yrs old he used the number #6.......... when he started racing in the dirt division he just added a #1 to his #6 making #61
He started racing in 1992.. and the first year he started he raced on asphalt... He told me that Kamp Motor Speedway use to be called Henry Speedway and it was asphalt...
I could have talked with Jammie for hours.... he had so much history in racing and I hated not to hear it all.. I was very impressed with all that he has accomplished ..
He won rookie of the year in the street stock division and after the last race of the year he was offered a ride in a modified.. He said he raced most of the next year for the car owner and then decided to buy his own car...
He also raced late model for four years and was Rookie of the Year his first year.... he also took 4th in National Points in the Northern All Stars the same year...
He went back into a modified when he decided to try his hand at building his own chassi's...
Jammie told me that his father was the one that inspired him to start racing....
The driver that he most admires is Billy Moyer..."Mr Smooth"....
When asked what he thought it took to be a good driver Jammie told me a lot of hard work and dedicaton..
Jammie told me that he would like to run a late model again...
I asked Jammie who his toughest competitor has been and he told me that at the Big Shows it is Chad Kinder... and said the local racer he raced against all the time that was his toughest .....Dan Hamstra....
When asked if there was anything in racing that he felt needed to be changed... He said yes... the cost...but he couldn't see that changing...
The racing highlight that stands out for Jammie was winning 20 features in one year and being Track Champion in the Super Street Division.. He said the last night of the season he went out and raced his super street and won...then got in a modified for first time and won the race...
He likes to race on a tacky track and prefers to run the high groove....
His Crew Chief is Doug Wagner, a police officer , who has been with him forever
Team consists of Russell Boarders, Archie Riddle and Roger Meeker
He wanted to give a big thanks to all his family and friends and anyone and everyone who has helped him out through the years....
Jammie.... I have watched you race quite a few times through the five years I have been involved in racing.. it was a real treat to get to meet you and an extra bonus to meet your wife Lorie and see that cute little baby boy Chase...
It makes looking at that #61 in an all new prospective... I could have talked with you for hours... I really enjoyed the interview.... thankyou so much!!
