Cody Mahoney is 20 years old and lives in Madison, Indiana
He runs the #M4 late model with a Masterbult Chassi and a Bullock Race Engine
Cody considers Brownstown Speedway his home track and his favorite track to run is Bardstown in Ky.
I asked Cody if he had a reason behind his number and he told me not really... It was just the number he picked when he first started racing and has stuck with it..
Cody started racing go carts in 1994 and then went into the "mini cup car" (half scale nascars).. He started running a late model at the age of fifteen..
I asked him what had inspired him to start racing .... he told me that his dad Garry Mahoney had race late model so he was always around it....He told me that his dad quit racing to help support him with his racing career...
The driver he most admires is Scott Bloomquist...
When I asked who his toughest competitor was he answered with "ALL OF THEM"....
He told me that to be a good driver he felt you have to be very smart..you have to be consistent and smooth.......AND A GOOD RIGHT FOOT....
His goal is to someday do this for a living....
When asked if he would change anything in racing he like so many said "the cost"...
A highlight that stands out for him is getting his first career win at Bardstown, Ky...
In running the High groove or the low groove...... he said he runs whichever is the fastest... but he likes to run on a dry slick track vs tacky...
His Crew Chief is his dad Garry and crew members are Larry Peak, Gene Smith, Darrell Sizemore and his dad.
