We sure were not sure if we wanted to head out to Brownstown with a 90% chance of rain...but..... I would have hated not going and finding they raced.... AND IF ANYONE CAN GET THE TRACK PREPARED AFTER A DOWN POUR......."TIM KEITHLEY" CAN...
By the time we got there it was pretty close to hot lapping... the bleachers were full.... at one point Chris Nunn came over the speaker to say if you were in the bathroom or in concession to go to your seat and sit down..... that there was standing room only and that they were going to fill the bleachers.........so if you did not want to lose your seat.."get in it"..
Over 70 late models including Bloomer, Billy Moyer, Steve Francis, Kid Rocket, Jeep, Birky, Matt Miller, Lanigan, Darren Miller.........over 60 modifieds including Brian Shaw, Shelby Miles, Londeree, Jesse Cramer, Joey Kramer, Kent Robinson,Ryan Thomas, John DeMoss Matt Huddleston.......no Kinder, (he brought his late model..and still having problems with it); no Denny Schwartz, Gabe Menzer, or Jeff Leka..........sure the weather kept them home...
I tried to keep track of the qualifying for the late model but was extremely hard when the time clock kept messing up......the #42 of Casey was fast qualifier... Chad Kinder qualified with a 15.218 which was pretty good.............Shannon Babb was 15.301;Don Oneal 15.400;Bloomer 15.034; Jimmy Owens 15.174 Brian Birkhofer 15.499......

In the feature the race was very exciting with the top five drivers....Shannon Babb and Josh Richards started on front row with Casebolt and Moyer on second row and Owens and Moran on 3rd row..4th row was Johnson and Ratliff; 5th row is Scott James and Matt Miller; 6th row Lee and Ratliff;7th row is Francis and Oneal; 8th row Michael England and Terry English; 9th row Bloomquist and VanWormer; 19th row Lanigan and Barnett; 11th row #9 and #42 and last is Prinz
Richards got out in front right from the get go and stayed there with Babb, Moyer, Casebolt and Owens in pursuit...........by lap 11 Owens had taken over third spot behind Babb..by lap 20 it was Richards, Babb, Owens, Casebolt and Moyer.....after lap 30 Shannon Babb got the lead from Richards and then Owens passed him.........well Billy Moyer just kept picking away and soon had gained the front spot with Babb, Casebolt, Owens and Richards...
Steve Francis spun out with about 21 laps to go..it was Moyer, Caseblot, Babb, Owens, Richards Lee, Darren Miller Scott James, Matt Miller , Earl Pearson,jr; Don Oneal Johnson, Bloomquist, England, Lanigan Ratliff, VanWormer and English
Ended with Moyer winning, Casebolt second, Owens third Babb fourth , Richards fifth....

Huddleston got out to an early lead.....in front of the grandstands they got bunched up and Brian Shaw drove up under Huddleston.... they kept going.......
Caution came out for Brian Shaw when he spun in turn four and had to go to the tail...the #99 of Londeree was flying on the outside rim and just kept going forward..Joey Kramer was on the move from 10th up to 5th........... looked to be a very exciting race and then...here comes the RAIN................ they called the race... Londeree won with Boknecht, Huddleston Shelby Miles, and Joey Kramer top five.....
It was amazing that they got the races almost all in.... biggest problem of the night was the time clock...it kept stopping in qualifying....program moved along very smoothly..
I got interviews with Cody Mahoney..Ryan Dauber and Jason Jameson.... will get them on soon....
Big thanks to Tim Keithly who gave me a ride to the pit area... was nice to spend time with Becky Robinson and family......sorry to see the trouble Kent had in his consi.... still don't understand that one.............got to talk with Joey Kramer....he told me he don't like to go to races that they don't qualify ....said if they don't qualify he doesn't understand why then they don't go with passing points.......I tend to agree with him there.... got to talk with Brian Shaw......Josh Richards posed for a picture but it turned out blurry...sorry Josh.... Matt Miller also let me take a picture..........
