I always look forward to Billy Egeler's Bluegrass Bash'es.... and I was not disappointed... Only thing wrong was I was not feeling well..
When we left the house it was very overcast and then we ran through some rain... closer we got to Western Speedway the warmer it got.....!!! I came home with a very nice sunburn.... better then freezing your toes off !!
As soon as we got there we ran into Jerry Huddleston, Matt Huddleston's grandpa.... very nice man .. we found where he and Pam would be sitting and joined them...
Next I got to meet doitnthedirt........... that was a real treat.... so nice to put a name with a face...
After we got our seats I headed to the pit area ... I had some items I needed to drop off with Craig and Katie Conyer.....JB , Becky and Kent Robinson and to Jesse and Sabrina Cramer.... on way there a guy came up and introduced himself to me....THE MOLE from 4m.... I told him as soon as I delivered my items I would be back..
Next I ran into Pam and Jeff Leka.......always fun to talk with them.... I told Pam of my back situation and leaviing my medicene home.... a little while later on my way back to the grandstand Jeff's crew member Chris stopped me and give me something for my back.... he has back problems and knew what I was going through.... I really think if it had not been for him I would have had to gone home.... "thankyou Chris"...
Next I ran into my friend Lee Hobbs....he is always the same everytime you run into him....always smiling..he is someone I always look for...
Next I seen Craig and Ryan Conyer and gave Katie something for her baby that is due in May... she was looking really good.... very happy for those two...
Next I talked with Tim, Rob Fuqua's Crew Chief and then with Rob himself.... I wanted to make it back to their pit area because I wanted the low down on the events that happened in Florida..... of all the people to have their equipment stolen...ROB FUQUA!!! Would not want to see that happen to anyone.... so glad it turned out the way it did and he got his stuff back...
The next ones I came upon was Tina Cramer and Sabrina... does she ever look cute pregnant .. I talked with them for a while and then Becky Robinson came up.... what fun it is to talk with these ladies....
I had made Becky a wall hanging of Kent from the pictures that KOHL and Jimmyd gave me... that was Kent's first big win and I had to miss it... (KLMS for $5,000)....
On my way back to the grandstands I talked with Wes McClara and his little boy Talon... I was suppose to get back down to meet his wife but never made it back... hopefully next time i will get to meet her..
I ran into Matt Huddleston and told him that his grandparents were sitting in the bleachers by us and we would have to see how that went with Huddleston and Kinder fans sitting next to one another.... he laughed.......
Talked with Arby Burton for a while............
also ran into someone I call a good friend ...Ricky Waggoner..... you can't meet Ricky and not feel like he is your friend...........he is a southern gentleman through and through...
Another one of our members came up to say hello.......mason5.... was really nice to get to meet him....
I was very happy to get the interviews I did... guys were super.... I got Jeff Parks #75 , Brian Yeatman #N10s, Chad Boone #4, Travis Kohler #0 and Andre Layfield #11..
I got to talk for a while with Jeff Parks wife while Jeff was working on his car... very nice ...
I am going to have to get some questions together and start interviewing some of these wives...
I went back and sit down for a while by Billy Egeler's sister Toni and gave the medicene some time to work before trying to head up the bleachers... while there I got a quick interview with a very tired Billy Egeler.. he really puts a lot of hard work into trying to make a very nice Event that pays really well for the modified drivers............. I think the Bash was great and I think it ran very smoothly and went from one event right into the next....... GREAT JOB BILLY !!!!!! I for one appreciate all of your effort !!!!
I ran into a couple of Clay County racers........Larry Anderson #43 modified and JR Dunlap and his dad Lloyd... JR runs a UMP Street Stock...
I then headed up the bleachers to join my friends.. Jerry and Pam Huddleston, Gennie and Mark Bare, Cindy Snyder, Eric Brackett, Bill and Bob and his girlfriend.............. Becky Robinson and her daughter came up and joined us in the bleachers for a while during the heats..... she brought me a sandwich to eat.... she wanted to make sure I ate something with the medicene I took...........You can tell she is a mom.....and a very good one!!!
The races went pretty smooth........ there were some pretty strong wrecks......... the ambulance came out on the track a few times...one car rolled about three times and landed on its lid...thankgoodness he got out of the car.... another scarey time was when Brian Bielong hit the wall in turn 4... he was in there for a while and ambulance checked him out.... hopefully he was ok... I never heard..
I hated that I never got to meet Cody S.. he seemed to be having a very good time and Billy had a 50/50 drawing and split the pot with the winner and Cody.......then the drivers took up a collection bringing in about $500........also a lot of the drivers donated shirts for a silent auction.... Team #22 made a minature door panel of Chad Kinder #22 modified... it really looked neat...
Qualifying started around noon............we were in the car heading home by ten oclock..... race ran very smoothly................
Thanks Billy
I will check my pics and see if any turned out and will add them later..
