Michael P. Heddins
CHARLESTON -- Michael Paul Heddins, 24, of rural Charleston, passed away at 6:43 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Michael was born July 2, 1981 at Mattoon, son of Ron C. and L.ennie K. Cole Heddins. Surviving are his son: Bailey Michael Dawson Lang and his mother: Leslie Lang, both of Charleston. His parents: Ron and Lennie Heddins of Charleston; one brother: Doug Heddins of Charleston; two sisters: NiCole Rae Heddins at home, and Kimberly Lynn Chaney of Charleston. One niece: Ashley Heddins; and one nephew: Matthew Chaney; his maternal grandmother. Dorothy May Strader of Charleston; as well as several aunts and uncles also survive. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Ivan and Cleo Cole; and his paternal grandfather: Ivory Heddins. Michael was a farm hand, and an accomplished stock car racer. He won the 2002 Fall Nationals at Fayette County Speedway, and was the 2004 track champion at Charleston Speedway. He was getting ready to build a new stock car for the 2006 racing season. He especially enjoyed the times when he and Bailey would go fishing, and the time shared with his entire family, friends, and competitors at Charleston Speedway.
