BROWNSTOWN, IN
AUGUST 19TH, 2006
Josh is 18 years old and lives in Shinnston, West Virginia
He runs the #1 late model with a Rocket chassi and a Cornett engine..
I asked Josh what track he claimed as his home track and like all the drivers that travel with the WoO they have no home track....
He says that his favorite track is Eldora,
When I asked Josh what had inspired him to start racing he told me he had been around it most his life..
He told me his dad had owned the I-79 racetrack in West Virginia... He said that he had always been around the track and helping out and helping to work on cars... Said his dad asked him one day to take a practice run in a late model and told him he did really good and asked him if he would like to start racing.....***well..we know the rest** Josh Richards IS a name to reckon with...
Josh started racing late model in 2004 at the age of 16...
I asked Josh what driver he most admired.. He told me that he admired a lot of different drivers...all for different reasons....
He told me to be a good driver he felt that it took a lot of focus....you have to stay focused all the time.. have to stay focused on everything all the time.... takes a lot of effort......
His ultimate goal like most young drivers is to some day make the NASCAR scene.... **this would not surprise me at all..he sure is talented and does have the ability to do just that.....
He told me his short term goal tonight was to make the feature and win..... He did win the race on friday night, August 18th for the drivers who had never won a race at Brownstown, Indiana....
When asked who his toughest competitor was he told me anyone who raced in the World of Outlaws...
I asked him if he felt there was anything in racing that needed to be changed and he told me he really has never given that any thought... He is pretty satisfied with the way it is..
The highlight that stands out for Josh is winning the very first race that he raced with the WoO... He said it was at Lebanon Valley, New York.... Said that was very rewarding for him....
Josh likes to race the high groove on a tacky track...
His Crew Chief is Mark Richards, his dad and team members are Jimmy Frey and Jeff Dillenger..
He wanted to send out a special thankyou to his mom and dad for all their help and support and to all his sponsors and to his fans and also to anyone who has helped him along the way....
Josh...was really great to meet you.... thankyou for being so sweet and coming out of the hauler to give me some of your time..... You are very polite and very friendly..... Hope your ultimate goal comes a reality for you...... and then remember me...
Hope to see ya race again soon..
