To start off with.... I totally was not expecting to go to this race....hubby had to work.... my friend Gennie Bare called and said her and Cindy and Kelsie were heading that way and would I like to go !!!!! LIKE YEAH !!!!...... I jumped in the car and met them at the boys shop and by 4:00 p.m. we were on our way... looked a little grimm when we were into the trip about an hour and it started sprinkling...But...hooray..we ran out of it......
I did not go to the pit area because I was not prepared... I would have loved getting an interview with Ryan Dauber, Tony Izzio, McKay Wenger and the guy that drives that 1949 racecar.... I love that car !!!!
When you see him going down the road it looks like there is no driver in it....he looks like he is sitting in the back seat...... I HAVE TO GET THIS GUY FOR AN INTERVIEW...AND ONE OF HIM GETTING INTO THAT CAR !!!

There were
38 Mods

Fast 4 Qualifiers of each group were:

1. 21S Schwartz 15.401
2. 22S Kinder 15.537
3. 25 Porth 15.562
4. 130 Osterhoff 15.570

Heat #1... on the start of this heat the #7 went over the burm coming out of one... the #88 lost control scaling the wall for a ways and came down hard on the track...he pulled off...The #7 of Crego pulled off the track by a wrecker.... the #15v of the 72 year old Vant pulled off.. ended with Denny Schwartz winning by a huge margin, then Nick Allen, Hastings, Wenger, Line, DeYoung.

Heat #2 Brent Mullins started in front and stayed there throughout the heat with the #23jr of Funk crossing 2nd and the #T of Thorton taking 3rd... the #40 of Estrada spun out on checkered flag lap causing him to take last place....

Heat 3...man...this was like watching a Feature... you knew when you saw Kinder, Harrison and Hamstra all in the same heat you were in for a powerful race !!!
Honest Chad I do try to keep my eyes on you at all times...but.... I do find myself closing my eyes occasionally..... I know you started out on front row and the next thing I knew you were like four cars behind.... although quite exciting to see you have to come up through the pack it is quite nerve racking!!!!
ended with Kinder taking the win, Harrison 2nd, Hamstra 3rd, Spatola 4th and Vince Cooper 5th....

Heat 4...the #75 of Wood brings out the first caution....2nd caution comes when the #75 gets sideways in turn one and the 21jr of McCoy spun trying to avoid hitting him.. ...3rd caution comes out for the #21 of Loch who spins...... Porth got out to a lead from the start and stayed there til the finish with Tommy Kroll taking second and Hastings crossing 3rd....

Consi 1... right at the start the #88 of Line and the #70 of Cooper crashed bringing out first caution....2nd caution came out when the #7 spun coming out of turn one.......finally on their 3rd try they got took off and another caution did not come out til five laps to go when the #15v and the #7 got together... the #7 was black flagged and sent off the track....ended with young Vince Cooper taking a win over Jim Farris, ..those two advance to feature.....

Consi 2....first caution comes out for the #13d of Kevin DeYoung with only 8 laps to go...2nd caution came out for the #40 with six laps to go...
The #13 of DeYoung and the #21L of Losh was putting on a race ...the number #1 was trying hard to get that last transfer spot... third caution comes out with 4 laps to go for the #75... the #21L of Losh got really close to the wall in turn 4 with sparks flying but kept on going..... with 2 laps to go the #22 of Keller spins in turn 4 getting stuck in the mud right in the turn........Kevin Deyoung took the win over Derek Losh..both transfer...

Dash - top 2 from each heat, inverted qualifying times
****I HATE DASHES**** too many times I have seen the top running cars taken out....better to take the top six or eight and have a pill draw for starting positions..... this race in my opinion is not worth running for an extra $50 or $100 bucks...
...right in the beginning of this race the #25 of Porth and the #22s of Kinder made contact in the front stretch ending up against the wall.... I thought the night was over for both drivers..... Porth did have to pull off but Kinder stayed taking tail of the pack...Mullins, Harrison and Schwartz were racing head to head... Mullins was leading and then Harrison got around him.....Schwartz followed.... Mike Harrison held off Schwartz for the win.... ended with Harrison, Schwartz, Mullins, Kroll, Allen, Funk and Kinder.....

Was a very exciting race !!!!!! Great job Chad... I had to move down away from the people because I was jumping up and down so much..... after the reace I tried to get pop out of the machine and could not stop shaking long enough to get my money in the slot !!!
When Chad was being interviewed he said something had broke on the car and it seemed to start going faster...he said he didn't think he would fix what broke.... laugh.gif ...

Wish I knew the drivers a little better....sorry....

Was a great night of racing..especially for the Kinder fans..... was glad to run into Scott Bull...he is such a nice kid..... hated to see his arm in a sling and hearing that he has to stay out of racing for the rest of the season...but am glad he is being sensible and giving his arm the proper time to heal.....
Was nice to run into Hoosier24..... sorry I did not get the chance to run into Ryan Dauber..... I will get him next time I am at Kankakee.....
Had a lot of fun even though I got home in the wee early morning hours.....but.... thats racing !!!!
