I had never been to Farmer City before... I was quite impressed..... they had a covered grandstand and smaller sets of open bleachers on each side..... they were filled.... I was told that they always have a big crowd but tonight they had more of a crowd because of Fan Appreciation Day..........they charged $5 for adults and children under 12 got in free............ I think it paid off cause the concessions were always full and by end of night they were almost out of pop..... I had a tenderloin sandwich and it was delicious.... hubby said hamburgers were too...

Was really nice running into Cory Schwingel's mother.... she came by to say hello ... She told me that Cory had been having his problems this year.... they had went through two engines and now was on their 3rd engine.....**** and unfortunately for the Schwingel's ..... they lost that motor tonight as well.... sure did hate to see that happen.... Cory is a really nice kid.....

Was also nice seeing Pam Leka.... always fun to talk with her..... tonight was the first time I had got to see her son Jeffrey race..... it was quite entertaining watching Pam..........she said it is so nerve racking watching her son out there..... Cory's mom told me the same thing....

Right after hot laps Dennis Waggle came up and told us that Chad was through for the night..... he said that there was smoke coming from the engine and they did not want to take any chances with it ... was very disappointing to us as it was for the boys...... they really wanted to get the Late Model out there and test it out....

There were 33 late model and I think 31 modified... there were sportsmen and street stock and hornets...
And they had a bus race..... first time I had ever seen buses race.... my granddaughter Kayla really enjoyed that....... was pretty scarey to see them pass one another.... Jeff Leka got out in front and stayed there til the finish.... it was fun to watch....

There were 3 heats for the modifieds...winners of heats were: Jeff Leka...Lance Dehm...Denny Schwartz
Heat one the first caution came out for Gabe Menser when he got sideways coming out of turn one.....he got sideways again coming out of turn 3.... he pulls off..... Jeff Leka who had started inside 3rd row got in lead early on and stayed there throughout with Matt Bachman 2nd ...
Heat 2 you had #57 and Lance Dehm on front row.. first caution came out when three cars collide...one was Cory Schwengel and one was Kyle Logue... both car had sheet metal damage.... both stayed in race... close to end of the heat Cory slowed down and came to a stop.... I did not catch the number of the car that went over the burm but when he came back on track he did not have control of his car and ran into Cory ... I later found out from Cory'd mom that he had lost his engine..... I hate to hear that.....
Lance took first and Scott Bull who was doing double duty tonight in both late model and modified crossed over 2nd coming from third row outside...
In heat #3 Denny Schwartz started on the front row and he went off and left everyone behind...Matt Gouldan crossed over 2nd and McKay Wenger crossing over 3rd..
Boy in the modified consi Gabe Menser had me on the edge of my seat.... I watched him go from dead last up to the last transfer spot by within two to finish when he slipped up over the burm in turn one.... how heartbreaking...... he really put on a good show... .... Tommy Burnside in the meantime had picked his way to the front from 3rd row outside and held on to the finish with Jeff Curl right behind him and the #5H of Randy Huffman and the #00 of Wilson all transferring to feature....

In the feature you saw Denny Schwartz on the pole and Jeff Leka outside... Matt Gouldan and Scott Bull were on second row................Jeff Leka got out in front right from the start and stayed there throughout the race.... Denny was putting the heat on but Jeff never faltered....Denny was second, Matt Bachman came across 3rd and Scott Bull finished 4th.... Was a great race!!! Good job Jeff !!!!

Late model had four heats... winners were: Steve Sheppard...Brian Diverly..Ritchie Heddrick and Dennis Erb
Heat one went off without a hitch with Sheppard getting out in front and staying...Eric Smith took 2nd and Daren Friedman took 3rd..#88 took 4th
Heat two was about the same...Brian Diverly took first with Shickel taking second and 3rd was the #Z..
In heat three Ritchie Heddick started on front row and stayed there til finish..Matt Taylor took 2nd and Joe Ross crossed 3rd...Jason Cleaver took 4th
Heat 4 Dennis Erb was flying.... he crossed over first with Jason Feger crossing 2nd and Wes Steidinger 3rd and Scott Bull 4th...
In the consi #22 won with the #43 of Jim Felker,jr 2nd, the #35 ofChandler 3rd and Ryan Little #38 crossing over 4th
In the feature Steve Sheppard and Brian Diverly were on front row...Heddrick and Erb on second row, Eric Smith and Schickel on third row..Taylor and Feger on 4th Friedman and #Z on 5th row..Ross and #1 on sixth row....
The race started at the beginning with Heddrick and Erb putting on a battle...then the #9 of Eric Smith slipped past Erb..... it stayed Heddrick, Smith and Erb until coming down the straight away going into turn three Dennis Erb flipped his car landing on its lid.... was a pretty scarey accident...was good to hear that Dennis was ok... the race ended with Ritchie winning...Eric Smith taking 2nd...#1 of Wes Steidinger 3rd..Friedman 4th..Sheppard 5th, Shickel 6th, Ross 7th, Taylor 8th and Diveley 9th

Really enjoyed the races at Farmer City.... was nice running into some familiar faces.... would have been a lot more fun if Chad Kinder had got to race.... wanted to see that late model.....
First time I saw Scott Bull in a late model.... he looked good....

Hope to see ya at the races real soon !!!
