Boy was it great being at the races and at Clay County..... I sure have missed this place and even more then I knew...... Was so great to see all the familiar faces...
Between Dennis Waggle and Kevin Short I knew there was a real strong possibility that Chad Kinder would race at Clay Co..... then I talked with Chad Kinder yesterday and he told me that they had to go to Evansville and pick up their late model and he did not know what time they would be back.... he said it may be around 4 or 5.. he told me if they got back they would go to Clay Co.....
We left the house around 2 p.m. knowing that Team #22 was still in Evansville..... we went to Ty's in Olney to eat....called Dennis Waggle....ah.. they were still in Evansville...went to Walmart.... it is now 5 p.m.... called Dennis..... still in Evansville.... got to track.. still in Evansville......
All of Team #22 fans were sitting together in front of the Announcer's booth.... hot laps came and went...three hornet heats came and went............yada yada yada.........you get the point.....Well to our relief they pulled into Clay Co in time to be able to race the Feature..but at the tail of 22 cars.... it was worth the wait.... he did go all the way from dead last.... number 23 to take 7th..... then after the races he brought out his late model and did some hot laps..... has been in the shop for over a month and a half..... it was lookin good......
Was so nice to see my friend Tim Feldhake who runs the #32 street stock... glad you came by to say hello.........Devin McKinney , the #83 street stock driver also came up to say hello.... was so glad to see him again......him and the #28 Mike Boylard put on one of the best races of the night in their heat....I was making a fool of myself screaming as much as I did..but wow.... it was a good race !!!!
Saw Josh Payne sitting in the bleachers not far from me... I kept waiting for him to go down to race and he never did.... I had to ask him why he was still sitting there ohmy.gif he told me he was waiting for his new car...
I talked with Julio the flagman.....guess what !!!!! He has some more pictures for us of his early days of flagging.... I can't wait to see them !!!!!

Tha track looked great.... I had heard that Richard had really been working the track and let me tell ya... you could tell it........ after Ed Shamhart won the feature he made some really good comments and said he would be back..
There were 19 hornets there.... three heats....
In heat one Mark Persinger started on outside front row and took the lead but here came the number #54 of Morrison who started third row....Morrison passed Persinger on the back straight away and went on to win with Heath Sharp crossing 3rd
In heat two the #62x and the #35 were in front row but was not long before the #B0 took over the lead..Perry took 2nd and Tim Snelling who was dead last finished 3rd...
In heat three there was a terrible accident on the first lap when the number #30 of Linbarger ? lost control of his car and ended up rolling three times... was so glad to see him get out of that car.... they took him off in the ambulance to the pit area ..it was reported that he was fine..... the number #34 car got caught up in the accident too but was able to keep on racing.... the #3c of Cockran won the heat with #02 of Oswald coming across 2nd...
In their feature there were four cautions .. one coming for debrie on track... one came when the #1 of Perry spins causing the #35 to spin... same time the #17 spins.............3rd caution came when the #71, the #59 and the #C70 crash coming out of turn 3....#4g of Gray pulled off.....last caution came out when the #1 of Perry and the #3c of Coakley crash in turn one.....Coakley pulls off.. ..The #54 started on the pole and he stayed there til the checker with Mandrell crossing 2nd and Tim Snelling who started 8th coming across for 3rd.....
There was 29 street stock tonight....four heats...
Winners of the heats were the #43 of Jerry Anderson, the #28 of Mike Boylard, the #78 of Bobby Wilkins and the #40 of Mandrell...
The best heat of the night was Heat #2 between Mike Boylard and Devin McKinney....Boylard started outside front row and Devin was second row outside.... Boylard got into the lead and McKinney was right on his heels.... they would go back n forth but Boylard held off McKinney taking the win.. Daughtery came across 3rd...
In heat #3 a car we see at Mt Vernon , the #78 of Bobby Wilkins took the win over Tim Feldhake...this also was a very exciting race.... Wilkins started the race in 2nd row inside and Feldhake started at the tail.. Wilkins took the lead and Feldhake kept picking them off one by one til he sealed up 2nd place...the #79 of Dunlap crossed over 3rd...... ** I still get amazed at watching Tim race with only one hand on the wheel....
In heat #4 Mandrell started on the pole and stayed there til the end of race.. the #57 of Matt HInes came up from sixth to cross over for second ..Beckham crossed over for third..
In the consi there were a lot of cautions..... ... the winner was Rob Smith of Centralia, Il second place was the #75 and third was the #8... ... the #18 of Ben Davis had been running in the fourth spot and spun out on the white flag lap....
In the feature caution one came out when the #78 and the 8 1/2 spin out coming out of turn three.. caution two came out for debrie on the track.... caution three came out when the #8 spun out in turn two... 4th caution came out when the #00 got side ways and the gray #00 ran into the side of him.... the black #00 pulled off....
With five laps to go the #43 of Jerry Anderson who had started out on the front row and then started slipping back pulled off .. something obviously broke in his car... The #28 of Boylard took first and Tim Feldhake who started 7th finished 2nd, Devin McKinney came up from sixth to take third.. Really good race...

There were 22 cars until Chad Kinder pulled in in time for the feature... (****thankyou Richard for letting Chad race after missing the heat)
In heat one Eddie Shamhart started on the front row and no one was gonna pass him... the #25 of Brent Keyes came up from 5th to take 2nd and Brian Shaw crossed over third......
In heat two Michael Fox did the same thing ... he started on the pole and never gave it up... he #77 of Greg Dedrick came from sixth to take second and the #5m of Randy McNeely who started 5th came up to finish 3rd..
In heat three Danny Claycomb started on outside front row and went on to win... the #47 of Stryzinski who started on pole took second with Al Gardner crossed over third
In the feature:

claycomb.....keyes
deddrick....stryzinski
shaw.....mcneely
gardner....boyland
duvall.....evans
jones....adams
cox.....moore

Kinder..............

on the first lap of race the #12g got sideways and Kinder just missed getting caught up in that...
early on in race the #47 pulled off track.... caution came out when the #71 of Cannon got sideways collecting the #10 of Brian Shaw and #5m of Randy McNeely....Shaw and McNeely got their spots back..
with 12 down and 8 to go Chad Kinder had moved up to 12th from 23rd.... with two to go Chad had moved up to the 7th spot.....finished with Eddie Shamhart who started on pole crossing over first...Keyes 2nd...Brian Shaw 3rd ....Randy McNeely 4th....Boylard 5th....Michael Fox sixth and Chad Kinder 7th..Dedrick 8th, Gardner 9th, Duvall 10th, Chad Evans 11th, Jay Jones 12th , Adams 13th and chris Moore 14th.......

Was so nice being at Flora.... got to talk with Tim Murphy ..nice seeing him again.... got to talk with our member Ratly....
Got to talk with Eric who use to take pictures for Flora..... miss seeing him out there taking pics...if I knew he was not taking pictures for the track he would have had my camera !!!!!

So glad to get to read these reports again CJ. Glad you got to go and see Chad race. Through the report I can picture Chad getting there to his coming from 23rd to 7th. And those late model hot laps had to be a treat! Why was the late model in Evansville? Wolf Pack series is at Kamp Motor Speedway Saturday? Tell Chad to bring modified, late model and fans up there for a good show?

Great write up CJ!!! I was the tall and dirty guy with the cute girl in the grey sweatshirt. I was working on the car from about 8 a.m. yesterday morning all the way until it was time to go to the races at 7:15. I was hoping there was still a chance to get it out there, but as you can see it didnt work out. I guess i just missed you cj, i was looking for the purple clip board in the chad kinder section, but i didnt see you. I am glad that you got to see the best night of racing at clay county that i can remember for a long time. Richard did an awesome job with the track!!! Hopefully they will keep up the good work and CCS will have many great nights like that in the future.
