I finally caught up with Matt Huddleston for an interview... I have been trying to catch him for over a year..I don't think he parks in the pit area... rolleyes.gif ...
Well...this time I got him trapped smile.gif ...his grandfather Jerry Huddleston took me to where he was parked..

Matt Huddleston is 21 years old and lives in Ashmore, Illinois

Matt runs the #18m modified with a Bob Pierce Chassi and a Dyno Flo Engine..

I asked Matt if he had a reason behind the car number #18... He told me he chose it because that was the age he started his racing career..

Matt started his racing career in a super street.. then went into a modified two years ago at age 19.. He also raced a late model last season...

Matt claims Charleston as his hometrack but prefers to race on the track at Brownstown, Indiana..

I asked what had inspired him to start racing and he told me that his father Tim had raced super street and street cars when he was growing upso he had been around racing and wanted to do it to..

The driver that he most admires is his cousin Mark Moore... The #24 who raced Charleston regularly..

When asked what he thought it took to be a good driver.....he told me "Patience"...

His goal in racing right now is to win a track championship..

He told me that he feels Rob Fuqua is one of his toughest competitors...

I asked Matt if there was anything in racing that he feels needs to be changed.... I hope I do him justice here... He told me that he feels that there needs to be a lot of improvement in the way the small tracks operate.... they need to be more fair...he says that they play a lot of favortism and that should not happen..

A highlight that stands out for him is taking 2nd in a $1000 to win at Brownstown, Indiana... He said he was in first place and got passed on the last lap by Earl Plessinger..

He likes to run the High Groove on a tacky track..

His father Tim is his Crew Chief

Team Members are his dad, grandpa Bud Walters, Duane Walter and a lot of friends

He told me he would like to give a big thankyou out to his grandma and grandpa, Danny Schwartz and to Mark Moore...

Well Matt... I am really glad that I got to meet you.. I sit by your grandpa Jerry and grandma Fran in the bleachers and really enjoyed talking with them.... Your gram gets as crazy as I do yelling for you like I do for Kinder....
Goodluck this year.. looking forward to seeing you race again....
