David Richardson Memorial $5000
May 28, 2006

Geez... I don't even know where to start... it was a great day all way round... I met so many new people and I always love that!!!!
We started for Danville around two oclock pm .. did not want to get there too early ...WAY TO HOT FOR ME... I would rather have cold weather then hot... dry.gif you can add clothes..but you can't take enough ...well you get the idea..... It was 94%.
I have been trying to get an interview with Matt Huddleston like in forever.....My husband went to school with Matt's grandfather Jerry........ Well lucky for me..when we went to pit area to get the pit pass we ran into Jerry.... Jerry went with me to find Matt...what a nice young man... was glad to finally run him down...
I then came upon the #7r of Kent Robinson... You could not meet nicer people.... I had a very nice time talking with Becki..Kent's mom... she is a real sweetheart....and thanks so much for the tee shirt... Trust me ..I will wear it... have added it with my tee shirt collection (Jeff Leka, Craig Conyer, Jesse Cramer and now Kent Robinson...) Did you know that Kent Robinson is a student pilot???? This kid is only nineteen...so glad I got to meet them.... while there Jesse Cramer came by...always love talking to this kid....
Next I went by Jeff and Pam Leka...... smile.gif we had a nice conversation about the Kankakee race smile.gif ... always enjoy taking with the two of them......... while there a young man came up and asked if I was "CJ".. He was the guy that takes care of Bob Pierce's website.."Korey"... had a nice talk..told him he can use any of my pictures he wants for the site of any of the drivers I take...
Also ran into Jamey Mitchell... he takes pictures and does write ups for the Dirt Digest Newspaper..He was going to interview Chad for the paper on his Late Model... Nice to see you again Jamey...
I went back to grandstand to watch the qualifying and the heats... my good friend Gennie Bare kept results for me so I could go back to pit area..
I took some pictures of the guys waiting to go on the track.... had wanted to catch Rodney Standifer, Brad DeYoung, Matt Bachman and Jamey Henson.... they either was working on their cars when I got to the pit area or they were not there...hopefully I will catch them some time..
I have watched Jesse Snyder race mainly at CCS but have seen him at other tracks also...was really nice to finally get to meet him... he was a lot of fun to interview..has a great sense of humor...thanks for the interview Jessie..
I also found one of my trusty members 48modracer "Bill Wagoner".... I am so glad I finally ran into him...have been corresponding back n forth with him ever since I started my website.... real nice guy..
While walking through the pit area talked briefly with Gabe Menser and also one of the crew members for Aaron Ricketts stopped me to talk "Mike"..... Mike always makes time to talk with me when he sees me...always enjoy taking with him...
When I got back to the grandstand Tina Cramer came over and talked with me...
Well...... you can see I spent a lot of time TALKING.... one of my very favorite things to do....what can I say....I AM A WOMAN..... smile.gif

The #0 of Pichon went over the burm but came back on without bringing a caution..

Brad Deyoung/Standifer
Bex/Mevert
King/Thomas
Burton/DeMoss
one and only caution when Mike Roundtree stopped coming out of turn 3..pulled off in lap three..
Chad started sixth but in no time had gained the lead and that is where he stayed ... it got pretty scarey when Chad hit lap traffic ..but the guys held their line and Chad got passed cleanly... after the race Chad said that he had used up his tires and could not pass anymore cars ..said he just had to hold his line and hope with luck would cross the finish line first..said he knew that Hamstra had a good car and was somewhere behind him...
Most all I am sure know that the #64 of Gary Cook,jr tried claiming Chad's engine... I have heard arguments on both sides for the engine claim rule...
I don't understand that rule at all.... I have been argued with by the best on this rule... to me it just appears that Gary Cook,jr was a sore loser... I may be looking at that wrong... Kinder started 6th and got to first..Hamstra started 7th and got to second...Cook started 9th and got to 7th... Would he have tried claiming Hamstra's motor?? or Ricketts or Menser's??? Gabe bless his heart qualified fastest..Leka second fastest.... has anyone tried claiming their motors??? Oh well..... anytime that Chad Kinder wins I know to expect someone to say either it was traction control or he cheated some way....Most of the drivers...and I did say MOST respect Chad's abilities as a good fellow competitor.... but... you do have a few who don't like to lose no matter what the cost...
Enough of that!!!! All of you know I am a Kinder fan... He is a nice guy ..has a great crew and is an extremely good and smart racecar driver.............
Good job Chad Kinder... don't let anyone tarnish the weekend you had....it was terrific and most would tell you the same thing....
And to all the drivers at David Richardson Memorial..... you guys put on a great race from the heats to the feature.... No really bad accidents..... I think that is a great accomplishment.. wonder if that was a record for least cautions in a modified event.... ... that spells... GOOD DRIVING!!!!
And Chris Nunn....... you are one of the best announcers if not the BEST Announcer I have heard...
cj
48modracer
It was good to finally meet you CJ. Sorry that I had to run off. Congrats to Chad and the crew. I told him at the pitshack when we got there last night that I had heard that the $5,000 check already had his name on it. I guess I was right! I should of told if he won that I needed to get a cut for predicting the victory! tongue.gif
