Steve Francis is thirtyeight years old and has one child Alexis.. He lives in Ashland, Kentucky..
Steve runs the #15 late model with a Rocket Chassi and a Stanton Engine - Mopar ..
The reason behind the number 15 on his race car .........that is the age he was when he started racing..
Steve did start racing at the age of fifteen and went right into a late model...
When I asked him what got him inspired to start racing he told me that as a kid he always loved racing..As far back as he can remember he said he knew he wanted to be a racecar driver...
Steve runs with the World of Outlaws and with the Lucas Oil Series..
He said his favorite track to run was any track that you can pass on....
The driver that he most admires ...... Tony Stewart and Jeff Purvis
He told me that he felt to be a good driver you have to have ..........good car control.......
I asked if he had a goal and he told me he wanted to win the World of Outlaws Championship and wants to win every race he enters....
I asked who he feels is his toughest competitor and he told me Rick Eckert..
When asked if there was anything in racing he felt needed to be changed he told me there were a lot of things.... but the one that bothers him the most is the tire rules.... He said he has no problem with the tire rule its self....but the problem lays in where they do the checking to making sure everyone is following the rules..... he feels that needs to be followed more closely..
The highlight that stands out for Steve happened in 1999 when he won the Dirt Track Championship (West Virginia Motor Speedway) and winning the World 100 at Eldora Speedway..
When asked where he liked to run.. the high or the low groove he told me which ever one was the fastest that night and on whether he preferred dry slick or tacky.. He said he liked whichever one you could pass on best...
His Crew Chief is Johnson and Team Member is Danny Wilson
He said he would like to give a special thanks to Mopar and to Valvaline..
Thankyou so much for the interview Steve.... it was a real thrill... goodluck with the upcoming season..
