The bleachers were packed!!!! I do not think there was an open space anywhere and lots of people was standing on the landing....
they do have to do something about their concession stands...!!!! I was at the races from two til midnight and never got anything to eat cause the lines were so long you had to stand forever to get waited on....AND I AM NOT GOING TO MISS RACING FOR THAT..... and I know I am not alone.... it was the same in the pit area..........long line............
The pit area...All I got to say is WOW !!!! There were haulers everywhere.. no rhyme or reason to how they were parked in there..I had so many people I was going to try and meet and didn't get to meet any of them.... I did get to see Rodney Deal and meet his brother Lindel......... to the guy that came up to me and asked me what Chad's dads name was and then told me that his brother Ron McKinney went to school with Roger....he wanted to meet my husband......so I introduced him and walked away....THEN I REALIZED!!!!!! THIS GUY THOUGHT I WAS CHAD'S MOM!!!!!! sorry Chad
I ran into Matt Mevert at Team #22's pit area and grabbed him for an interview.... thankyou Matt....
I was going to try and get Jeff Ray...Tom Reich... Gabe Menser and Jim Bailey.... plus wanted to get Steve Francis and Brian Birkhofer..........but.........the way they were rushing through the program these guys were extremely busy..!!!!
If I had stayed in pit and got the interviews.......and pics.... I would have missed racing.... and I just can't do that....
I did get some pictures and will add to this post.... my DRIVER OF THE WEEK has to go to Scott Weber....I am sorry but.....this guy really deserves the "Tough Luck Award"....
Can you believe...73 late model and 114 modified and the bleachers were loaded to the max....You can sure see who the race nuts are...
My very favorite pictures of the guys are the ones with them sitting in the cars getting ready to go on the track... I only got a couple of those but love them....
Cody Hood.... I really like your car this year....wanted to find you so I could get a picture but didn't...
I did get to say hello to Eddie Roley and got a picture and got to say hi to his dad Don Pearcy.. Got to say hello and get a picture of Jeff Leka's new Bob Pierce car...
Went to Aaron Rickett's but he had went to the driver's meeting...got to see my pal Devin McKinney..
I really like KLMS and I think Sherri did a real good job of keeping things moving...she wanted to get us out of there as early as she could... planned on it...but with 187 cars you can't rush that...... going from one event to another went off very smoothly..
Billy Moyer's son was racing the other 21 late model...... instead of going by Billy jr or junior or JR he is know as "SMOKE JOHNSON"..... can anyone enlighen me on this??? Where did Johnson come from???
Jesse Snyder was in an "X" car..... is this a new car and number for Jesse or was he driving someone elses car??
Brian Shaw was in the number 10 car instead of his #1 car..... the number 10 was the number his dad Bill Shaw used when he raced.... nice looking car Brian....
Shane Cottle I am use to seeing in a red #78 car..... this year it was white......will take me some getting use to
Matt Meverts car is mostly black this year.... Chad Kinder's has a lot of purple in color scheme..
The track got black really early on in racing.... when the late model went out for their feature there was no passing...wherever they started is where they stayed... Steve Francis never lost his lead but Shannon Babb was putting pressure on.......... Don Oneal had to pull out with a flat tire and had to go to tail ..that is where he stayed....John Blankenship got into a mishap with the #18 of Hollingsworth causing his night to end...Blankenship stayed in race but never really recovered from that incident...
Worse wreck of the night was the one of the 10x when he hit a rut in turn one... his car flipped over and over and came to a stop on its roof.... was so great to see Rob Pendergrast get out of that car... the sheet metal was everywhere....
Poor Scotty Weber.... I am not real sure what happened in that incident...when I looked over I saw Michael Harrison hit Scotty hard in the rear end mashing the car really bad... the right side of Michael Harrison's car when he drove by was all smashed in.... Scotty I am sure needs a new car... and for this to happen in hot laps.....SAD...
It was really hard to write down the lineups ...so many cars i did not know...just like in the late model...it was hard to pass.... now I am sure there were other cars doing the same thing...but....you know I am watching Chad Kinder..... he started in the fourth row outside ...first half of race he stayed in 8th spot and then started picking them off one by one.... with about seven laps to go Joey Kramer finally got around Jeff Parks who had led entire race..with five laps to go Kinder got around Parks coming out of turn two....before they came out of turn four a caution came out.... Chad had to go back to third spot....with two laps to go Chad got around Parks once again and stayed there......finished with Joey in front , Chad second and Jeff third and Randle fourth... I think Michael Harrison crossed 5th and Don Adams 6th....
Jeff Leka was running up there with these guys to when him and Danny Schwartz tangled.... shortly after that Leka pulled out..
Was a fun night.... enjoyed seeing Chad Kinder in his late model for the first time... he looked good in qualifying with 15.336.......Babb was fastest at 14.874......Wendell Wallace qualified 15.338..Billy Drake at 15.584...Billy Moyer 15.494.....so he was right there with them... Was in first heat with...Oh my gosh....Shannon Babb...Clint Smith..need I say more..
Bob Pierce was seen in action also..driving the twinkie car to Michael Kloos....he went into a consi but did not make it to the feature... nice seeing him out there...!!!!
Can't wait til my next race !!!
Jim Bailey... sorry I did not make it to your pit area.... I hope to catch you soon....
