Jr Dunlap is 28 years old and lives in Palestine, Illinois with his wife Amanda and their five year old daughter Allison...
Jr runs the #79 red Buick Regal with a 350 engine built by Bush..
JR claims Clay County as his hometrack and also his favorite track to run...
The reason behind the #79...........that is the year he was born...
JR told me that he started his racing venture at the age of 18 yrs in the 4 cylender class.. He started racing in the street stock division five years ago..
JR told me that the reason he got involved in racing was because his dad had raced....and also Jimmy.....and his wife added that she thought it was just bred into him...
He told me that the driver he most admired was .............ANYONE BUT TONY STEWART !!!! ***but he loves JEFF GORDON..............."NOT".....
To be a good driver he feels you need to have patience and not tearing others cars up!!! USE YOUR BRAIN!!!
His goal in racing...........to finish every race..........
He told me his toughest competitor has been Josh Griffith #97...and Tim Feldhake #32.....
I asked him if there was anything in racing that should be changed and he said...YES.....that Josh needs to start at the rear in every race..... then he said...... dont put that down... I was kidding....

His highlight in racing is still be able to race with the price of racing fuel costing $6.00 a gal...
He likes to race the high groove on a tacky track......and he means tacky..... he said muddy..cornfield type sloppy.....
His Crew Chiefs are his dad Lloyd Dunlap and Jimmy
Team Members are Mike, Jimmy, Scott and Allison, his mom Donna, his dad Lloyd,and Amanda
When asked if he had anyone to thank he named Jimmy Shook and said Jimmy was very supportive of him..says he does everything to help him from using his shop , his electiricity, etc........ also wanted to say thanks to Terry Messenger and to Mike Munson for their help... to Mike Bush... to Mike, Rich, his dad, his brother Scott, his wife Amanda.....his sponsors Lincolnland, Tuttle Trailer Rentals and Sun Burst Resources...
Finally JR ......... I have talked with you so many times and never realized I had never interviewed you before.... now I gotta get Scotty......

I was invited by JR Dunlap to come to their race shop north of Robinson....
Jim Shook is a sponsor of JR's and gives him a place to work on his car....
Jim Shook and JR's dad Lloyd raced together in the ;70's at Crawford Co.... I am working on trying to get Jim to let us put some of his racing pictures on the site when he raced at Charleston and at Crawford...
As I got to the shop JR's brother Scottie was just leaving.... I am hoping to see Scottie at Flora racing some next year but.............. not sure he will be in a car next year.... hope that is not true...
