I went up to the B12 car looking for Kevin Weaver......they pointed to a modified and told me he was in that car and that was what he was driving tonight... I thought they were teasing me...but Aaron Ricketts told me that it was true... Kevin was racing both the late model and Aaron's second car...
Kevin Weaver is 42 years old and is from Gibson City...
He is married to Lenora and they have a daughter Paige..
Kevin runs the #B12 with a Rayburn chassi and a Hixson engine..
The reason behind Kevin's car number is.. he told me that Joe Williams # was 112 and the owners of the car was Butch Hixson and Benny Nettleton..The owners of the car and Joe Williams let Kevin drive it for 5 races..they changed one of the 1's to a B standing for Butch and Benny... B 12
Kevin started racing at the age of 14 yrs. in a go cart....went into a street stock around the year 1981...... He went into a Late Model in 1985..
I asked him what had inspired him to start racing and he told me that he just went to a lot of races with his mom and dad to watch Joe Williams and the "good ole boys"...
Driver he most admires is "Joe Williams"..
When asked what he thought it took to be a good driver he told me having a good mechanic and having some sense....
His goal is TO BE THE BEST HE CAN BE IN HIS DIVISION....
He told me he felt two of his toughest competitors were Shannon Babb and Dennis Erb but he added there are several others...
I asked him if there was anything that he would like to see changed in racing and he told me that there were way to many rules....
When asked whether he liked the High groove or the Low groove he told me that when he was young he liked the high to higher side and then would crash...now he like the low to high..
He said he like to race on a dry slick track....Said it was easy on your equipment but you must have good talent....
His Crew Chief is Mason Fiecher and team members are Rick Kroon, Don _ais, Josh Beebe, Kendall Hunstein,
He said he would like to thank all the "NU-WAY guys , Jerry , Rod, Vern, Kevin, and all of his friends that has been there for him through the years...
Kevin, a real honor to get to meet you and get an interview with you...very much appreciated.... Have watched you race many a race.... thanks for the excitement..
