Tim Holt
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim Holt is the father of Michael Holt..driver of the #22h..
When I was in the pit area getting an interview from Mike Holt I took the opportunity to grab an interview with him...
Tim raced in the 1970's at White Squirrel in Olney, Il and at Crawford Co Speedway in Stoy, Il.. It was a family project where all three brothers shared one car..His brotheres were Larry and Rick...
Tim told me that what had inspired him to start racing was working in the tower at Stoy, Illinois and then in the pit area..
Said after his brother Rick got out of the service they decided to go for it....
When they started racing he told me they called the class "late model" .... Told me that the cars looked like the one that Chris Rhinehart drives....**the number #56 bomber..
( I have some of the pictures from this era on my site listed under surprise box.... ***
He told me it was a lot of fun back then and did not take an extreme amount of money to run.... Said they changed the color of their car every year...he drove the #77
I asked him what he thought it took to be a good driver and he told me without hesitation GOOD EQUIPMENT!! and sponsors to keep you in good equipment... Said also that you need to be a smooth driver....
When asked who he thought his toughest competitor was he told me they can all be tough...
I asked him if he would change anything if he could and he told me yes..that he had messed up because he had been impatient..... said that they were going with the lightning chassis and that he had wanted it by the end of the year so he could work on it through the winter and was told he needed to wait til spring..........Tim said he wished he had waited...it would have been a plus for Michael...
He told me he loved traveling around to the different tracks.. He had raced at Eldora and at Boswell, Indiana and all over... ... He told me that any time he finished in the top ten he was happy...
Told me that when the racing switched from the stock body to the factory made chassis him and his brothers stopped racing....

Tim... I know you have some pictures of your car from the #70's I would like to put it on here... so far have not found a picture of your car..... the #77 I have is Ron White...

thanks so much for the interview... I feel it is a plus for my site....
