Eldora Speedway....Oct.10,2004
Kris Patterson is 50 years old and comes from St. Johns, Michigan... He runs the #50 Late Model with a Rayburn Chassis and a Ford Motor....
Kris told me that he started out racing Snow Mobiles and then went to Motorcycles in about 1970/71..He then went to the Sprints and from there to the Sportsman Class and then by the early 80's settled into a Late Model....
Kris told me that his father Bob Patterson owned a Super Midified car in the 60's in the Michigan area... Not sure whether he drove or was just the owner... Can anyone answer that for me???
He told me he gives credit to Freddy Smith, Jack Boggs (*father of Jackie Boggs), and Rick Frickle for influencing him in his career...
He told me he feels it takes a lot of self confidence to be a successful driver... Told me you need to do a lot of homework/preparation also and that you certainly need luck riding with you...
He told me his goal in life was just to have fun racing and will do it until he doesn't enjoy it anymore.... ummmm ..I am thinking he will be around a long time because talking with him ...you can tell he loves it...
He told me his toughest competitors have been Brian Birkhofer, Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Mars..
When asking him if there was anything he would change if he could he laughed and told me he would like to win more..
Sounds like he has already done a lot of that being a 7 time MSPA winner, 5 time Champ of the Sunoco , and having 19 track championships in his career...and being track champ at Oak Shade....
Kris told me he would like to take this opportunity to tell his mom and dad Rosie and Bob thanks for all their help and support and to his wife Cathy and son Kris,jr... He couldn't do it without all of you being there ....
He wants to let Matt and Eve know that he appreciates their dedication too..
His sponsors are KFC, Lane Automotive, Sunoco Gas, Felice Engines, Century 21...
Kris ... thankyou very much for the time .. enjoyed talking with you..and getting to meet you....
Goodluck in your career..
