Clay Co. Speedway
Anytime you go into the pit area you will hear Jerry Anderson's name.... almost every bomber driver that I have interviewed will always mention his name with high regard.........Jerry Anderson and the sons are very highly thought of....
Jerry has been described to me as someone who will always help you out with whatever he can ...
Jerry is 62 years young and lives in Clay City, Illinois.... He runs the #42 bomber..
Jerry started racing at the age of 27 in the state of Kansas... He has raced Junior modifieds and Super modifieds.... and started racing a bomber in 1978..
I asked him what had inspired him to start racing and he told me that he just loved to race....
When asked if anyone had inspired him along the way he told me that his entire family had always backed him and that has meant a lot to him...
I asked Jerry what he thought it took to be a good driver and he told me Paitience and he added....."you have to have good humor"...
Jerry told me that his long term goal was just to have fun at what he is dong...
He considers Mike Hilliard and Tim Murphy two of his toughest competitors...
I asked him if there was anything about racing he would like to see changed he told me that he would like to see the crowd come back.....
He told me that he has won several Awards during his racing career and that he has also been track point champ at tracks other then Clay County Speedway...
He has no crew chief other than himself and when asked about his crew he told me that all the boys in that pit area help each other out.... if any one of them needed help someone was there lending a hand....or a part....
Jerry I am really glad to get the opportunity to talk with you... I have a feeling I have only scratched the surface of all that you could share with us....
I walked away with an understanding of why these boys at Clay County have a special affection for you....
Thankyou for talking with me.....
