Clay County Speedway..
Was so glad to finally meet up with Megan.... She raced Hornets last year at Mt. Vernon and had a really bad accident that put her out of racing last year..
She was racing friday nite in Michael Boulard's hornet....she is getting a car ready..
Megan is 16 years old and is from Woodlawn, Illinois... she started racing a Hornet when she was 14 years old....
She told me that her dad Greg Wilson had raced in the bomber division at Mt. Vernon and had inspired her to want to do the same...
She told me that someone she looked up to and was inspired by was her racing idol "Richard Petty"..
When I asked Megan what she thought it took to be a good driver she told me "common sense" she said that you can't go out and beat and bang on other cars..have to drive smart... ... she says it takes some courage to go out on the track...
She said that her dream would be one day to be driving a Late Model...
I loved this response from her when asked who she felt was her toughest competitor..... SHE TOLD ME "ANYONE WHO IS IN FRONT OF HER!!!!
I asked her if there was anything she would like see changed in racing and she told me the payout for hornets...
She told me her best finishes so far are a 7th in a feature and 3rd in a heat....
She wanted to give a special thanks to her dad and whole family......she added mainly her dad who was a big help to her...
It is nice to see you out on the track Megan... hope to see ya again soon...
