I went to Haubstadt with one thing on my mind... to get an interview with Chub Frank.... and I sure was not disappointed.... a really super nice guy...
Chub is 43 years old and has been racing since the age of 16....He lives in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania...
Chub started out racing twenty seven years ago in the street stock division ..In 1985 he went right into a late model... Said he never drove a modified..
He runs the #1 Late Model with a Rocket Chassi and a custom engine..
He told me that he had been around racing all his life. His dad Jerry Frank and his uncle Don had owned two racetracks .. One was called State Line Speedway in New York and the other was called Eriez Speedway which was in Pennslvania... Said his dad owned the track all the way up to 1984...
I asked him if anyone had inspired him along the way and he said there had been a lot of the local drivers that had....
When asked what he thought it took to be a good driver he told me that you have to be patiently aggressive...
I asked him what his long term goal was and he told me he was doing it.... He is in the WoO and is quite satisfield with it...
When I asked him who his toughest competitor was he told me that any of the eleven members of the WoO were tough..... and he added that so were the five or six local drivers that show up at the events they run in...
I asked him if there was anything about racing he feels should be changed...
He laughed and told me that sometime people that think they know what would make things better tend to only make them worse...
He told me that he felt racing was beginning to change now for the better.. .. He did say that the cost of racing was just getting out of hand for everyone....

He has won the Renegade Dirt Car Series four times...and last year he won the World 100 at Eldora on September 11.....
His Crew Chief is Boom Briggs and Team members are Rich Hart and "Wack".
One of his sponsors is Lester Buildings
He wanted to give Jeff Farrow a special "thankyou"...

Geez Chub..... I am sure you are told all the time... but.... it really was an honor to interview you.... very much the gentleman... Thankyou so very much...!!!
