I finally tracked Chris Moore down.... have been trying to get an interview with him for a while..... just bad timing.....
Chris Moore is 30 years old and is from Bridgeport, Illinois,, He runs the #15 modified which he tells me is half Harris and half Jones....with a Barker motor...
Chris told me that he started his racing career in 2000 in a bomber..and went to a modified three years ago..
I asked him what had inspired him to start racing and at first he said he didn't really know..then he laughed and pointed to the guy that was standing by him and said.."well, I guess I would say it was because of Terry Barker... he told me Terry called him and asked him to drive his car for him....rest is history..
He said he also helped worked on a car that Larry Barker drove ..
I asked Chris if there was anyone who had inspired him along the way.. It took him no time to tell me "JAY JONES".... He told me Jay had helped him so much .. Said any time he needed help that Jay was right there....
I asked Chris what he thought it took to be a good driver and he told me "concentration" --- and a good feel for what is going on around you....
He told me that his long term goal is to race as many years as he can...
I asked him who he felt was his toughest competitor and he took no time in saying "Chad Kinder"..
I asked him if he thought there was anything in racing that needed to be changed and he told me the cost.... He told me he would like to see it be like it was around 1992 when it was more affordable to go racing... more people could afford to do it...
Chris was Rookie of the Year in Bombers and was also the Track Champion his first year at Red Hill Raceway...
