Michael Fox is eighteen years old and is from Bridgeport, Illinois.. He use to run the #66 bomber last year but moved up to the modified class this year.. He runs the #66 modified with a lightning chassis and a 408 engine..
Michael told me that he had started racing at the age of sixteen in a bomber at Red Hill Raceway...
He told me that tonight was his tenth time in the modified and he loves it... Said he found out in short order that he has a lot to learn yet about racing a modified...
I asked MIke what had inspired him to start racing and he told me that he had been going to the races since about the age of seven with his dad....
When I asked him if there had been anyone who had influenced him along the way he told me immediately "BILLY MOYER" and ' SAMMY SCHWINDEL".....
I asked him what he thought it took to be a good driver and he told me that it took a lot of .....................yep............"PATIENCE' and he added Experience....
He said he would love nothing better then to one day make it into the NASCAR CIRCUIT..... good luck to you with that dream Mike.... and when you make it...remember me when I want an interview..... rolleyes.gif
He told me he feels that one of his toughest competitors is Chris Moore..

I asked him if he thought there was anything in racing that needed to be changed and he smiled at me and said they need to get paid a little more...

I asked about accomplishments and he told me that he had won a heat race in Haubstadt and was very happy about that.

HIs Crew Chief is his dad Lewis Fox and his pit crew is his dad and his brother Aaron..

Michael races at Clay Co..... Haubstadt, In and Mt. Vernon....

Was so nice meeting and talking with you Michael..... and was nice meeting your mother too.....

smile.gif and thanks for the compliment on my website... always nice to hear nice things....................

p.s.
thanks for showing me how you put those tear offs on your helmet.... I was always curious about that......

Michael was so cute when I was talking to him about those tear offs....
he told me that he sure did need more experience on how to tear them off..... said that he sees the guys tearing them off and they fly out of their car and onto the track........... he says his ends up all over the floor and around his feet and it sounds like a bunch of water in his car.............

He is quite witty and very sweet to talk with...
thanks bunches...

Clay County race July 5th, 2008

Lightning struck again Saturday night at Clay County Speedway in Flora.

For the second-straight week, Bridgeport’s Michael Fox powered his Lightning Chassis/Weber Racing Engines/Fox Auto Sales #66 to victory in the 20-lap U.M.P. modified feature event.

Fox charged from the back of the pack following an early-race spin, thundering past leader Brent Mullins, of Litchfield, in the waning laps.

With his car dialed in perfectly on the 1/3-mile, high-banked oval, Fox opened up a sizable lead over Mullins on the fast, but rough, clay surface and held on for the impressive win.

Mullins, a June 21 victor at Clay County Speedway, finished second behind the wheel of his R.P. Lumber/Mullins Race Engines #41M.

St. Peter’s Michael Bolyard was third followed by Effingham’s Kelby Simmons and Olney’s Jay Jones.
