LARRY ANDERSON....#43....my interview
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got to meet Larry Anderson a couple of years ago at the Clay County Speedway "Fan Appreciation Night"..
I got to talk with him at Chad's Get Together " in Newton..
Larry told me that he started racing about eight years ago when Red Hill Raceway first opened up,,
He told me that he started out driving Limited Late Model and went on to explain to me that this class was equal to the Indiana Street Stock....**never knew there were so many different classes of cars**..
After about four years of racing he went to the open wheel modified.. You have to really respect this guy... he does most all his work on his car by himself...including building the car too..
He told me one of his biggest accomplishments was winning the "Fall Nationals at Redhill Raceway... It was his first feature win... And then last season when he won the $1,000 at Red Hill in A Special Event Race...
His best memory of racing is "building his own car"... He feels a certain satisfaction of doing it on his own...
When asked if there was anyone he would like to thank he told me he owed so much to his wife Michele...that she was very supportive of him and he deeply appreciated that...
I asked what he felt was important to make a good racecar driver and he answered with "PATIENCE AND DEDICATION."
His sponsors are PD Service Company in Clay City, Il, M & M Pump Supply, Clay City, Il., Browns Furniture, Olney, Il and Right Foot Engine Shop...
Larry comes from a family of race car drivers... His father Jerry who races at Clay County Speedway in a Bomber raced in Oklahoma and Kansas before moving to Illinois..Larry said that the night he was born his dad was racing............
Larry's brother Rodney also raced in the bombers a couple of years ago... as his sister and mother and wife have all raced the "powder puff " races....
Thankyou Larry for giving me the interview..very much appreciate you taking the time...
