August 14th, 2010

What a night.... we have got to get a break in this weather.... it is like being in a sona when you sit outside in this heat...
Clay County thanked all the fans for braving the weather and supporting their track....

Michael had called me earilier in the day and said that the track was ready...said they had got some rain friday night but he had it taken care of and if it rained saturday he could handle it.... this kid is busting his butt for this track and for the fans and drivers..
He spends a lot of time on the phone and does a lot of leg work too..... it is appreciated Michael..

I always love when people stop by to say hello to me and to my surprise someone I had not seen for a very long time came to say hi....RICK BRANHAM.... the father of RYAN BRANHAM who use to run the #33 street stock at Flora... Rick proudly produced a picture of his two beautiful grandaughters..... Ryan's little one is two months old... was really good to see Rick....

Rick Scott came by to say hello, the #25 hornet driver and Rodney Deal who runs the parts trailer at CCS... Phil Bible, the #51 street stock driver also stopped by to say hello...
Kraig from KBC Graphix came by and gave me a "22 Kinder sticker".........thanks so much Kraig...very much appreciated.... he awarded Gabe Menser for finishing 3rd in the dash a free wrap ..............Was good to see GAbe Menser and Cody Hood at Flora tonight !!

A good friend of Clay County was in attendance tonight as well..... CRAIG.... or as most of you know him 01racefan... I didn't worry too much about getting the results tonight because he does such a good job....

I went up to the announcers booth to say hello to Jim Norton and cool down a little... the score keeper "Jerrica", Jay Jones daughter was not there ....she got a much needed weekend away since the birth of her daughter Jaylin......
Scorekeepers never get much recognition and they should..... I would not want Jerrica's job.... I keep score on the sidelines and let me tell you... it is not an easy ...... Jerrica does a great job weekend after weekend.....THANKS VERY MUCH....

For the hornets I need to apologize and hope someone did a better job of getting their names and numbers...
It was hard to read the numbers on the sides of a lot of the cars so I did the best I could..

In heat one the pole was held by the #T2 of Payne... outside of him was the #77 of Walsh
that is it........ I did not get the finish because I could not read the numbers....

In heat two I know that Jim Cole was on outside front row,,,Lynn Lash was inside second row, #49 was behind him on 3rd row and Timmy Snelling was inside row 4...
The #71 of Jim Cole got out to the lead and stayed there to finish... the 49 held second for a while with Lash in 3rd and Snelling in 4th
The #50 pulled off track....
slowly but surely that little #14 slipped his way up to take 2nd place...
finish was: Jim Cole, Timmy Snelling, #47, Lynn Lash, #49, P16

In their feature front row was Ray Walsh and Jimmy Bone
2nd row is #28 and Timmy Snelling
3rd row was #37 and #47
????????

Ray Watts took a commanding lead and never looked back... the #28 and the #37 were in 2nd and 3rd with Snelling and Cole trying their hardest to get round them but was held back....
#77 pulls off
Slane pulls off
Finish was: Ray Watts, , Cubby, Jesse Abbott , Timmy Snelling, Jim Cole and Lynn Lash

After the races I headed to the pit area....
Talked with David Shain and his wife... their little guy was sound asleep... imagine that.... but mommy did say he had just finally fell asleep.. I asked David if he would be coming back to CCS and he told me he was getting discouraged with his car..needs a better engine he said to compete... he said he really likes the track at Clay County and his wife enjoys coming there.... I am hoping David gets a better engine... I really enjoy watching him race... he is a very clean and a very good driver....
Said hello to Scott Dunlap and then headed to the Parts trailer that Rodney and Lindell Deal have.... Mj and his crew chief were there collecting the tire they won...

Click to view attachment this is the tire they said MJ could have..... lol...

but this is the tire he actually won Click to view attachment

and Rodney.... thanks so much for the tee shirt you gave me.... I will take a picture of it soon and put it on here.... very much appreciated....

I then went to find Dennis Waggle...the #K00L street stock driver and my good friend.... he did awesome tonight... he keeps getting better and better.... he came from 9th up to 4th tonight and he was very happy.... he got off the track with no damage....
keep up the good work Dennis....

I then headed to the #22 Team Pit area.... boy did I get ribbed for not being at the race in Peebles, Ohio where Chad won the Harley... I ribbed him for the spinout in the Dash.... I told him I couldn't believe he spun out and he said " I know".. man I sucked.... lol..... Chad YOU never suck..... crap happens.....
I talked with Knappy and he was still floatin from the win at Brushcreek.... had to remind me I missed a great race...
While there talked with Jodie Brown... she told me her daughter Heather and hubby Marty Lindeman are now into riding their harley these days.... she asked me if I recognized her son.........oh my gosh.... I sure didn't.....been a long time since I had seen him...he is getting ready to start college this year...

I then spotted the #14 pulling out and to go over to say hello..... geez... Timmy Snelling all grown up , married and a daddy.... he is adorable.... I have watched him grow up at the track.... he was 14 when I first started watching him and now he is 21 and working in the coal mines..... so good to see you and your dad again.... and good seeing you on the track.... make sure you send them pictures of your little guy....
While talking to Timmy another guy I had not seen in quite awhile came up to say hello.... RANDY McNEELY...... and his sidekick Greg with his two sons... .... I told Randy that he is really missed and he told me there is not a day goes by that he don't miss being out on that track..... I asked him if he would be back and he said never count him out..... He said he would love to find someone who needed a driver.... he would be there in a heart beat...... I sure wish that would happen.... Randy is a class act....

Click to view attachment hey Connie you recognize this little guy ?? the one on the left ?

Walking back to the car I ran into Michael Burmeister.... he asked me to take a picture of the pit area.... he said he goes through this every weekend and its getting old.... he says he has trash barrels all over the pit area and would appreciate the guys using them....
He personally owns the track that he uses to mow the track and says he runs over stuff all the time that is left on the ground.. last week he ran over a car part that had been left there and he did not see it til he ran over it....
Please guys.... take heed to this... only takes a minute to walk over and throw your trash away.... and don't leave your spare parts there for Michael to find unexpectedly....

Was a very hot night but well worth it.... I love talking with all my friends at the track..
and I personally want to say thankyou for supporting Clay County... Each and every ONE of you are important to the track...

and saying that.... I want to thank Michael for all the extra work he has done this year to help keep the track alive for his loyal supporters....

Hope to see all of you again soon....
