Clay County Speedway

Seems like forever since I was at a race.... was nice to be back and especially at Clay County Speedway...
Richard and Margene and family do a great job giving the fans and the drivers a place to race.... I want them to know how much I appreciate it.... and talking with the drivers...and a lot coming all the way from Indiana also appreciate their efforts...

Sorry I missed you last night Margene...always enjoy talking with you.... I did get to see Richard and asked him when a good time was to get an interview with him... he took off very quickly and said 'NEVER".......lol..... I will have to work extra hard on him I think...

When I arrived at CCS I saw Craig "01cratefan" in concession area writing down the top ten in the chase for the track pts for you guys...

I headed to the pit area for some pictures and interviews...

I headed to Team #22 first to say hello and get some pictures...

I caught up with Lloyd and Scott Dunlap....#79 street stock... it is nice to see them back at Flora.... they had started the season out in Danville before CCS had opened and they got caught up in running for points there.... then unfortunately for them the track closed........but.... glad they are at CCS....

I got an interview with the top pts leader as of right now in street stocks....the #00 of Stacy Tretter....

Also ran into Dustin Christie..the #75 modifed driver... super nice guy

he was involved in a really bad crash in the feature rolling his car... he did however get out of his car on his own and did not need ambulance.... crash looked really bad... I am sure he is pretty sore today....

I then headed back to where Kelly Devall #11 modified driver was parked.... I have watched him race for a while now and never have caught him for an interview... got him tonight !!!! Was a pleasure to talk with him..

Gotta go eat.........and take a break...will be back with my run down of the races..
cj22carcar
The racing was exciting in all three divisions...there were 20 modifieds on hand with Chad Kinder in the house as well as Mike Harrison the #1 car which threw me... Mike always races the got milk modifed with the number #24..
There were15 street stock in attendance.. Stacy Tretter #00 leader in track pits and the #43 of MJ Wheat who is in hot pursuit of those track points running a close second.also the #79 of Scott Dunlap was there..
Wow...in the hornet division there were 37 cars.... lot of names I am not familiar with..next time I am at CCS I will have to look up these drivers...

First out were the mod heats..
In heat one of three you had Zack Fair and Mike Boylard on front row, wnd row was Kenny Carter and Steve Lach, 3rd row was Travis Kohler and Chad Kinder..bringing up the tail is Tres Mehler..
This was an exciting race... with Fair and Boylard out in front battling it out the #22 of Kinder started moving up... a caution came out for Kohler when he spun out...
the #22 of Kinder and the #95 of Fair was going hard for that first place spot doing a lot of side by side racing.... Chad would gain in the corners and Fair would pull away on back stetch with Kinder running the low side and Fair the high side.. a second caution came out when the #42 of Lach who started slowing on track and came to a stop..
.. After the restart Chad got the advantage and got around Fair for the win ...Chad took firsrt, Fair second, Bolyard third, Mehler fourth all the way from the tail, Lach, Koehler and Carter...

Heat two you had Simmons and Jones on the front row; row two was Christie and Fox; row three was Patton and Moore..the tail was Bill Dugger....
the first caution came out for Dustin Christie who spun in turn one...Jay Jones was looking really strong and was running out in front..not sure what happened but he start falling back and did pull out.. The #1m of Chris Moore came up from fifth to take the lead... he had a marginal lead over the rest of the cars... ... the #88 of Dugger pulled off the track..
finish was Moore, Simmons, Fox, Patton, Christie, Jones dnf, Dugger dnf

Heat three you had Harrison and Jolly on front row; 2nd row was Dedrick and Anderson; 3rd row was Snyder and Devall...
Mike Harrison got out to an early lead and stayed there thru out... but.. not without being challenged by Larry Anderson...... on the last lap Kelly Devall hit the tire in turn 4 causing him to finish last.... finish was Harrison, Anderson, Jolly, Snyder, Dedrick and Devall....
In the Feature the lineup was:
Kinder....Moore
Harrison...Fair
Simmons...Anderson
Bolyard....Fox
Jolly....Mehler
Patton.....Snyder
Lach....Christie
Dedrick.......Koehler
Carter....Devall
Dugger
Jones dns
Boy.. this race did not start out good for a lot of drivers... Chad had shot out to the lead with Fair and Bolyard right behind him.... on the back stretch some cars got loose and caused a major calamity... the #75 of Dustin Christie got the worse .. crash looked really bad with Christie ending on his lid...the #3 of Mehler was involved..he was done for night as well..the .. the #43 of Anderson and the #37 of Patton was over in the mix but made it out ok... I think the #U2 was also involved..side of his car was smashed in...
**luckily no one had to be taken away in the ambulance.... but I am guessing that Dustin has to be sore today...
there was a total restart...lineup now is
Kinder......Moore
Harrison...Fair
Bolyard....Anderson
Jolly...Fox
Patton...Snyder
Lach.....Devall
not sure from there back....
The #22s got out to the lead again.... with Moore and Harrison in hot pursuit...Kinder was pulling way ahead...
another caution for another bad wreck.. cars included Lach, Carter , Jolly, Dugger and Snyder............Danny Jolly was not as lucky as in the first crash... he had to be pulled off the track....
running order is Kinder, Moore, Harrison, Fair, Anderson, Bolyard, Fox, Deval, Snyder, Koehler, Patton........
next caution came out for the #88 of Bill Dugger...there are 14 laps to go...
on restart Moore shot out around Kinder...but Kinder regained the lead...
a close call for Jesse Snyder when he hits the wall coming out of turn three... he somehow saved it and kept going...
the #22s of Kinder was coming up on lap traffic.. he laps Dedrick and Koehler....
Chad Kinder wins the feature by a marginal lead with Chris Moore 2nd, Mike Harrison 3rd; Larry Anderson 4th and Zack Fair 5th...Fox, Bolyard, Devall, Snyder, Patton, Koehler, Dedrick.....dnf were Carter, Lach, Dugger, Jolly, Simmons, Christie and Mehler....

In the street stock...
heat one you had Mosley and Bible row one, row two is Wilkins and Shick, row three is Buss and Blair, row four was Henderson and Simmons..
first caution comes out for 94 of Simmons the #101 of Buss and the #51 of Bible...the #94 goes off ...
caution for the #78 of Wilkins...caution comes out for the #B51 of Blair..
the #8 of Mosley led from green to checker flag with Shick, Simmons, Henderson, Buss, Blair, Wilkins, Bible..

In heat two front row was Loddeke and Feldhake, 2nd row was Dunlap and Rhinehart, 3rd row was Wheat and Waggle and tail was Tretter..
first caution comes out when the c01 of Rhinehart spins when they were trying to go three wide around the turn...
the #43 of MJ Wheat gets charged with a false start putting him at tail
the #00 of Tretter goes off track smoking....
finish is Loddeke, Feldhake, Dunlap, Wheat, Rhinhart, Waggle...

Lineup for feature
Mosely and Loddeke
Schick and Feldhake
Simmons and Dunlap
Henderson and Wheat
Buss and Rhinehart
Blair and Waggle
Wilkins
the #51 of Bible dns
The #11 of Loddeke gets out to the early lead ..
the #94 of Simmons spins but keeps going........
now it is Loddeke, Dunlap, Feldhake, Mosley, Wheat and Waggle up from the tail..
Waggle was looking really good....only his second night out with his car.... he was using the high groove coming really close to that wall...
The #38 goes off the track....
in front of the grandstands the #79 of Dunlap is going really slow.. I think he was trying to get off the track when bam...he is hit from behind by the #c01 of Rhinehart... hope Dunlap was okay...he took a hard hit...... and he was running in second place at the time....
the #8 gets into the wall but keeps going..
not sure what happened to the #11L of Loddeke but he started slipping backwards...
The #K00L car of Waggle had looked strong all night and had worked his way up to fifth..after the last caution he went to the inside and it did not seem to work for him...he started slipping back....
Tim Feldhake took the win with MJ Wheat in second then Loddeke, Wilkins, Mosley, Simmons , Shick, Rinehart, Blair, Waggle....dnf was Dunlap, Henderson and Buss...

In the hornets first heat the winner was the #28 of Jesse Abbott with Mike Mandrell crossing over second,
